DID NOT TRY OVERCLOCKING YET...
Shipping was odd, initially stated a week for delivery until it actually shipped, ordered on 21st, arrived on the 24th.
The replacement kit works as expected without any problems. Overall I'm very happy with the service from Patriot, as well as the excellent value of their product. Based on this experience I won't hesitate to choose Patriot in future.
Taking out 1 star because of its not very obvious compatibility issue with 2nd gen processors. They should have explicitly mentioned its compatibility issues instead of letting users run lengthy memtests.
Taking out another star because of its meaningless height. The sticks are too tall, around 40% taller than a regular DDR4 stick. You might have difficulty installing them depending on your cooler.
I plugged the RAM kit into my Ryzen 7 2700x machine, set up XMP, and system booted up fine. I was even able to run cinebench without encountering any issue. But then I decided to run memtest86. I’m glad that I made that decision because the test failed (see picture). Oh well, I was wondering if there is anything wrong with my X370 motherboard so I plugged the RAM sticks into another machine with Ryzen 7 1700. It didn’t even POST this time. At that point I realized the RAM might have compatibility issue with early Ryzen processors. Eventually I tested the RAM kit on my gaming machine with Ryzen 5 3600. All tests passed.
The compatibility with the first gen Ryzen is a non-existence.
The compatibility with the second gen Ryzen is not there at least at 3200. The system might boot up fine, but system instability might happen at any point due to data corruption.
The RAM is compatible with the third gen Ryzen thankfully.
