"The text begs to be read aloud; the reader will find onomatopoeia, stylish repetition, and short sentences that add a zippy cadence to the story's rhythm. Harris's rich illustrations depict important moments in Bath's life and include interesting details: medical equipment, an eyeball or two, and a schematic of her invention. An inspirational story of a woman who worked hard and never gave up on her dream to rid the world of blindness. A book all children should hear or read."--School Library Journal

Patricia's Vision: The Doctor Who Saved Sight by Michelle Lord and illustrated by Alleeana Harris is the life story of Dr. Patricia Bath, a groundbreaking African American woman ophthalmologist who pioneered laser surgery and gave her patients the gift of sight. As a small girl, Patricia pondered "what would it be like to live in the dark?" - with it's actual quotes from Dr Bath herself woven into the beautiful illustrations, this book is informative, inspirational and a pleasure to read.

Wonderful Woman!Reviewed in the United States on 22 April 2021
How great is it to meet a wonderful woman in history through this book? My students have been very happy to have this book added to our classroom library! It is checked out quite often! This is an excellent way to learn about a lady who did so much for so many! Well-written and nice illustrations, too!
