Among other things, it makes the perfect strategic defense point when that horde of old HeroQuest orcs invades the kingdom. As with all of these flip-mats, I think this one offers an abundance of possibilities and makes the gaming experience more engaging.

These are both useful maps: 1) a 40ft by 15ft bridge crossing a 30ft river, 2) a 30ft river with a broken 5ft log crossing it. This is a really easy goto for a river map... but while the log river has a fairly organic curve to it, the bridge river is painfully straight -- such that it looks quite artificial. If the walls of the river had more variation, I would love this map -- as is, it doesn't look as much like a natural river as I would want it to.
