Favorite Quotes:

Cain’s Salvation

“Hearing Honor curse was sort of like watching Santa smoke weed. It was just wrong.”

“He’d lost so much weight that not even the beer he drank like it was the fifth food group had made a dent.”

“He guessed she was plotting fifty ways to kill him and make it look like an accident. That’s how this sister worked. She was vengeful. Oh, she was syrupy sweet on the outside, but Patience had a core of pure fire.”

“Because I swear by everything that I hold dear, there’s gonna be either a wedding or a funeral. Since I’m a generous Christian woman, I’ll let you decide which one you want.”

Hard as Stone:

“Have you seen the ass on that man? You could bounce a quarter off him and make yourself fifty cents!”

“Jacob Stone was YUMMY with extra emphasis place on the YUM. Completely freaking edible, her libido sang joyously as her girly parts did a happy little dance beneath her dress.”

“Still spry at 71, her aunt could still do many things, but coordinating an outfit wasn’t among them. Eying the old woman’s orange skirt and purple shirt only reinforced what she already knew. If she wasn’t careful, she was gonna walk out of this room dressed like a clown on crack.”

“That woman could remove a man’s jewels with a butter knife and a can-do attitude.”

My Review:

Cain’s Salvation is an excellent second chance romance that is smokin’ hot, contemporary, and right on point with the current difficulties our returning troops are encountering with PTSD. Both stories are well written, steamy, and poignant. I could not put them down and finished them in a day. Having grown up in a small town, these people seemed familiar and real to me.

Cain’s Salvation

I have read the strictly erotica books by this author in the past, and so I was a bit curious as to how they would do when it came to a Romance with only bits of erotica in it. I’m glad to say that I was extremely happy and pleasantly surprised at how well they were able to pull of this book.

The story begins with Cain and Faith planning their wedding, and then the twist that leaves Faith confused as to what is going to happen to her next. I believe that the author did a great job with Faith and her dealing with the issues of Cain ending their relationship. The pain that she was feeling was throughout the story was very well written, it felt extremely lifelike.

The inner battle that Cain was feeling was also very well written. As bad as this sounds, I enjoyed watching the torture that he was going through during the course of the book because it made the story that much better.

I can say that the authors were still able to bring their style of smuttiness into the book, because the sex scenes that take place were just well written. They were done with no sense of crudeness whatsoever. They were done with style and elegance, and added to the story just the right amount.

My only complaint with the book would be the large amount of characters that were introduced. When you go into the book, you do know that Faith has plenty of sisters, but it was a bit overwhelming when they were all brought up and their love interests were introduced as well.

Overall though, I did completely enjoy this story and I really can’t wait for the next one in the series to be released!

**Additional review of bonus content**

I really loved the new epilogue that O’Rourke added to this story. I didn’t realize until I had started reading it that to me that helped wrap up the story of Cain and Faith so much. Not only did it give the story the “closure” that I had felt was missing, but we were also able to find out about the wedding first hand. Which, with everything that Cain and Faith had been through, was a great thing to get to read.

I do feel like this added content was a great addition and really made the book that much better!

Hard As Stone

You know how you start reading a book and you know it’s going to be fabulous just because of who the author is? On one hand, I love these authors and I haven’t read a book from them that I haven’t enjoyed. (Key word here is enjoyed). And on the other hand, once I started this book I didn’t want to stop reading it! It even got to the point where when I HAD to stop (I really
had no choice in that matter), I ended up talking my mom’s ear off for the almost 2 hours about how much I loved the book and how she needed to read it. And at that point, I was only about 40% of the way through it.

Don’t get me wrong, while reading this book I had a complete love/hate relationship with Jake. I HATED how he was lying, but I did understand it at the same time. Now Harmony? Oh I loved her right from the start. There was just something about her; sweet, innocent, and just overall amazing. I loved her. I do have to say that my favorite person would have to be Heaven. When you read the story, you will completely understand what I’m talking about.

This book brought for lots of emotions; happiness, anger, joy, sadness, and the desire to kill someone.

You will be kept on the edge of your seat waiting patiently for the pages to turn because once again, this amazing writing duo wrote a great story that was an amazing balance between the smuttiness they are well known for, and the powerful story that unfolds with each page.

**Additional review of bonus content**

The added epilogue of this story was just off the walls amazing! Even though I kinda had a feeling what it was about, it still blew me away with how funny, yet serious at the same time, it was. I’m so glad to find out that Jake is still Jake, and is as headstrong as always. Harmony of course brings the perfect balance to the story.

Overall this epilogue adds more to the story and leaves me hoping that we will get to spend much more time with the families in Paradise.

WOW is all I can say. Cain and Faith story so real. Two broken people have to fight their way back to each other. The McKinnon sisters are feisty and know how to take care of family. Faith broken from a Dear John letter from Cain who saw so much in Afghanistan. Cain was back and needed help to find his way back to Faith and it was Faith's sister who gave him that push but was the push enough? The characters in this series are so really and Sarah did a fantastic job and dealing tastefully with real life issues.

Just when I thought Cain was it here comes Jake ready to take on Harmony who is Faith's sister. Again Sarah dealt with real life issues in this book but did it very tastefully. WOW Jake had a hidden agenda and thought he was doing the right thing. Harmony has a daughter Heaven who will just blow your socks off and what a relationship Heaven forms with Jake.
Sarah did an outstanding job and I cannot wait to read more of her books. Just awesome

The stories of these sisters are interesting and engaging. But after having read 3 books in this series, including the prequel, I have to give it a rest. Although I am very interested in the stories of the remaining two sisters, I cannot subject myself to the numerous problems with the lack of editing in this author’s work. All three books I’ve read have been plagued by wrong verb tense, incorrect word usage (here for hear, there for their, hear for heart, etc.), and prolific pronoun errors. The number of times he had his hands on his body, instead of HER body, or she wrapped her legs around her hips instead of HIS hips, etc., was mind boggling. Like the author couldn’t even keep track of what was really happening in her own story.

The last story in this duo, Hard as Stone, took me forever to finish, over 3 weeks between start and finish and stopped to read 7 other books in the meantime. Finally forced myself to finish it so I could return to Kindle Unlimited and borrow something else. It seemed needlessly drawn out and I just wanted it to be OVER already.

I may eventually return to this series for the final 2 sisters, which I think might be the most interesting ones, but I am definitely giving myself a break for now. I really hope the author will give her books a proper editing before publishing from now on. I’m just glad I didn’t pay money for this, although I guess in a sense I did through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

*** Spoiler Alert ***
Harmony’s reactions at the cabin in chapter 53 were extremely stupid. Either Diego was not as bad as she thought, which Dante had warned her, and she wouldn’t even give him the courtesy of hearing him out; or he was exactly what she thought he was, in which case her words would only incite him to violence against her and Honor. So given either scenario, she was being aggressive and an idiot. Besides the fact that her behavior was not consistent with her personality and more like her sister Patience. I hate when books manipulate characters for dramatic effect with no thought to what makes sense for the plot and characters.

Cain's Salvation - The Men of the McKinnon Sisters #1 - Stars: 4

I really enjoyed reading this story. The characters were easy to relate to and were described well. There was enough back story provided to get you hooked! Sometimes I laughed out loud, other times my heart was breaking and I even had tears in my eyes. And now a bit about the story...

Cain had loved Faith for as long as he can remember. However their differences had always kept him at bay. When her parents died in a car crash when she was 16 he came back from Medical school to comfort her as a friend. Later he returned to Paradise, Tennessee - their small sleepy town - in time for her to go off to college. When she returned they started dating and were soon engaged. All was going wonderful until he was called up by the National Guard to serve as combat doctor in Kandahar, Afghanistan. 9 months into his tour he can't stand the sand, desert, and death surrounding him. He starts to question his worth and fears he isn't the right man for Faith. Try this story out to see what war can do and how time, faith and love can heal.

Favorite passages:
- One day could feel a thousand hours long when you were surrounded by the violence of war.
- It was time to let her go. He had to release her from their promise of forever. Her freedom was the only gift he had left to offer her now. The man his Faith had loved was dead and the shell left in his place was good enough for no decent woman.
- "I'm just a shadow, honey. A man that doesn't have a soul left to lose."
- "You have scars, Cain. Some of them you can see; some you can't."
- He'd watched her hug, kiss and fondle more men then a whore working shore leave.
- "As long as I've got you by my side, I can face anything the world throws at me."
- “Aw, c’mon, girls! There’s nothing to feel ashamed over. The Good Lord wouldn’t have given men peckers if he didn’t want us to play with ‘em.”
- “It’s love,” Abel declared sadly. “The emotion makes smart men go supremely stupid. It’s sad, really.”

Hard as Stone - The Men of the McKinnon Sisters #2 - Stars: 5

Even better than the first!!

This was a great follow-up to Cain's Salvation, book one in the Passion in Paradise series surrounding the McKinnon sisters. In the first book we met the family and learned about Cain and Faith's rocky relationship. In the second book we move on to Harmony and Heaven as our main characters while learning more and more about the other two McKinnon's - Patience and Honor. The story keeps you hooked. Harmony and Patience are extra sassy and full of surprises. We meet a new hero and villain as well... what story world be any good without all those ;) The men continue to make their mistakes, some that could lead to disaster. And now a bit about the story...

Harmony is a single mom and happy, or so she thought. When Jacob Stone rolled into town her world is turned upside down. Her track record with men is awful and she tries really hard to ignore Jake. Stone is a Harley riding mystery with long hair and tattoos, but the would be bad boy had fallen for Harmony and Heaven, her four year old daughter. What Harmony doesn't know is Jake is DEA and he is there to decide if she is part of the next big drug play or if she is at risk. Before he is even in town a few minutes he knows she is innocent and he MUST protect her and her whole family, but will she forgive him when she finds out? How can he protect her if she pushes him away? Zeke, the local sheriff, figures out what he is up to and while all the men in the McKinnon's life are in the loop the women are left hanging out in the wind. It isn't until Tanner shows up threatening Harmony and all she holds dear that the story breaks free.

The ending was a surprise to me as well, I love when books aren't predictable :). Can't wait for the next one to see the torture Patience puts Abel through...

Favorite passages:
- Either way, it wasn't Zeke's fault that Jacob felt like a whore attending a cotillion when he stood beside the other man.
- "When a man gets lucky enough to take a pretty woman like you out for the evening, then he damn well should show up with flowers, Harmony. If he doesn't, you kick his ass to the curb."
- "Christ, will you calm d- own? I can only handle one hysterical woman at a time," Jacob whispered violently into the phone. [talking to Zeke]
- "Either way, neither of those so-called faults is gonna keep me from claimin' you." "I'm not undiscovered territory, Jacob," Harmony retorted sharply. "I'm a woman. And I'm not looking to be claimed. Not by you or anybody else. Go take you flag and plant it someplace else."
- Sweet Lord, the man was part-octopus.
- "For once, can't you cut me a break and stay where I put you?" Honor raised an eyebrow at the angry man. "I'm sorry. You must have mistaken me for a German Shepard."
- "In that case, Zeke was right. That was a foolish thing to do." Honor frowned at her sister. "And if you tell him I said that, I'll burn your pancakes for a month."
- She was flourishing under his attention, shedding her inhibitions, spreading her wings, and flying higher than she'd ever imagined possible.
- "I can't promise clear skies, darlin'," Jacob admitted quietly. "But I can damn sure be there with the umbrella when that rain falls."
- A sperm donor didn't make a man a daddy, and that bastard wasn't getting anywhere near this precious girl again.
- Jake snorted. “He’s also a horny teenage boy, Harmony, and I wanna make sure that he knows if he chooses to get frisky with my Princess then I’ll be forced to geld him.”
- “You go to jail for protecting my daughter, then I’ll post your bail,” Jake assured him.
- We’ve got a Sheriff , an attorney and a coroner in our family. Together, we can make anything look like an accident. Understood?”

Passion in Paradise by Sarah O'Rourke is based in a small town in Tennessee. I loved how this because most books are set in big cities. The first book is about Cain and Faith. Cain is struggling with demons of his from being in Afghanistan. Faith is struggling with the fact that Cain broke up with her through a letter. But these two people deserve happiness more than anyone and with the help of Faith's sister, they are all determined to bring them together. The second book is about Jacob Stone and he is undercover. He has come to this town to see if he can find evidence against a criminal he has been chasing what he didn't count on was falling in love with one of the McKinnon's, Faith. But does his job but everyone in jeopardy and will he be able to find happiness after all. I loved these stories and how close the sister are. I really loved all of the sister's names too. I would recommend this book.
