What an awesome concept. I enjoyed the way the author used a simple bit of stick and turned it into a unique storyline. I found the first few chapters a little slower than I would normally like, but once Ethan and the stick got off that plane and found their way to the hotel, things started to hot up.
The author has come up with so many different ideas, from talking cards, to going back in time in an unexpected travel mode.
The characters all carry their own personalities which the author uses to her advantage to engage the reader. I felt the strong family bonds that emerge between Ethan, Mrs Potts and the Stick.
Once I got into the middle of the book I didn't want to put it down. This is a Great book for all ages, younger readers will benefit from the can do attitude and strong family values.
I'm looking forward to the second book and what the next adventure will hold. I'd like to see where mischief making Ethan ends up.
I enjoyed the book so much, now my 13year old daughter is also taking herself on The Parchment journey.
