Product Description

There's trouble waiting in Paradise.

Quiet country-girl Lexie Atkinson is about to get an education she'll never forget. Sent from her family's remote rural property to live in the glittering beachside Paradise City for her final school year, she is plunged into a place where looks can kill and vicious rumours can make or break you. Lexie just wants to fly under the radar...until she meets Luke Ballantine.

Impulsive and charming, one thing is clear: Luke is sexier than any guy she has ever known.

Suddenly good girl Lexie is breaking all the rules - getting detention, sneaking out to late-night parties, hanging out with boys - and then rumours start swirling...about her! Everything changes fast and Lexie will soon find out if Luke Ballantine is going to be good for her...or very, very bad?

Have you ever had an idea or a plan of how something was going to pan out and it all goes pear shaped? This is exactly what happens to Lexi. She has an ideal dream of what her time at school in Paradise City is going to be like and it turns out to be anything but.
Making enemies before she even starts at the school, Lexi is on struggle street the second she comes to Paradise City. She’s behind the eight-ball in trying to win over her principal, her cousin, her uncle, having no friends, no life and being the targeted butt of jokes. Lexi is the ultimate underdog.
This is a book about the uncertainty of young love and I read it in one sitting. This is a book about unfulfilled expectations with a frustratingly delicious love triangle.
I loved the flow, the drama and the laughable situations. If it was happening to me, I’m sure I wouldn’t be laughing but there are heartbreaking horrible situations too where I really feel for Lexi.
I have a wish list of what I would like to happen in the next book but ultimately – it doesn’t matter – it’s going to be on the TBR pile 
I was kindly given an Advance Reader Copy of this book for an honest and unbiased opinion.

I was given a ARC Copy of this book by the Publisher for an honest review.......

I have been a fan of CJ Duggan and read all her other books .... I absolutely love the Onslow Boys...... I enjoyed this book too.... but not as much......

We follow the story of Lexie, who is originally home schooled and she leaves the farm to live with her Aunty, Uncle and Cousin in Paradise City... she thinks this is a great time for her to "shine".... Lexie soon discovers that her cousin is not the same person as she remembered when she was younger.... Lexie spots a boy at School, Luke Ballantine and is instantly smitten....... we follow their story through ups and downs and to a very interesting conclusion...... there is a few surprising events that we certainly don't see coming...... I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment of this series.......

You know how some books just really make you want to go somewhere? Well I can't believe I'm saying this, but with Paradise City, CJ Duggan makes me want to go back to high school! Now I went to an all girls school so there were no Luke Ballantines, Daniel Boons and certainly no Kirkland Boys, but we definitely had our fair share of Lexie Atkinsons, Amanda Burnsteens and Lucy Fell-on-her-faces. My high school experience was completely different to Lexie's but due to the writing, I left like I had experienced all this before and I was reliving all the excitement, mortifying embarrassment, lust, heartbreak, and beginnings of love all over again with Lexie.

This is not one of those reads that you have to concentrate too much for. I found as soon as I started reading, I came up for breathe and I was almost halfway through. It's just that easy to be pulled into this world and find yourself immersed. I think it is a credit to any author who's words are able to surround you so much you lose touch with what's happening around you in real life and CJ does this brilliantly.

For me, some of the winners of the book weren't actually Lexie and Ballantine. I'm very much hoping that in Paradise Road, we get to see a little more of Amanda and Boon. Amanda is an extremely complex character who's moods seem to swing more that the pendulum on a clock so it will be interesting to see if finishing school will have an affect on that, and Boon, well Boon is just one of those laid-back, cheeky types that I always like. The other character I'm dying to know more about is Dean. I don't know what it is about moody bar owners that seem to like wearing black, but CJ always manages to hook me with one.

I could not put this book down, I read it within hours, I was hooked. And i need Paradise road now!! Cj Duggan is one of my favourite authors and this book just proves why she is so ace! Lexi is desperate to get away from her super quiet home town where she is home schooled. She cant wait to go to an actual school, One that her cousin also attends. She wants to experience what most teenage girls do. And boy, does she get plenty of new experiences. They also all link back to one sexy, surfer bad boy, Luke Ballantine. Although everything doesnt turn out or run as smoothly as Lexie had imagined it would. School isnt how she thought it would be at first, Her relationship with her cousin, Amanda, is strained and never in her wildest dreams, did Lexi think she would be sneaking out of her bedroom window in the middle of the night to meet up with boys and hang out at a bar. Luke Ballantine certainly brings out the bad girl in Lexi. The secondary characters, Amanda, Boon, Laura and Dean are fun and i look forward to seeing what they are up to in the next book. I so dont want to wait until September for the next book, I need to know how Lexi and Luke move forward. Paradise City is a great romance and YA book. I always highly recommend Cj’s books and Paradise City is no exception. I am already super excited for Paradise Road.
