Thanks Anna, for putting this part of your life onto paper so that people like me - who for one reason or another may never manage to get to the wonder that is New Zealand - can live vicariously through your adventures. Good luck with your future challenges.
I have read many, many "adventure" type books, from mountaineering, cycling, adventure racing, sailing etc but few have enthralled me in the way this did. From Anna's slightly, eh, "casual" and naive initial approach to her route planning through the whole adventure of the journey, this had me gripped from beginning to end. The searing honesty with which she describes her emotional ups and downs made you want to reach out and deliver one of her trademark hugs to help her on her way. The closing chapters in particular, as she describes her inner journey, were hugely engaging and a joy to read. Read this. You will feel better for it. And you will want to visit New Zealand. Thank you for this Anna.
I am looking forward to her next book.
