Simple recipes with realistic ingredientsReviewed in the United States on 6 February 2014
This cookbook has a great selection of recipes that use realistic ingredients instead of expecting readers to go out and purchase lots of exotic and expensive specialty items. Her "stock up" list includes meats, fresh and frozen veggies, eggs, canned tomatoes, olive oil and spices that can be purchased in any grocery store. Even the recommended coconut oil is now available at my local grocer. The recipes are also fairly simple, and don't take much time to put together. There is also a short introduction to Paleo at the front of the book. So if you're new to Paleo, or trying to do Paleo without spending lots of money on specialty items, or are even a long-time Paleo person looking for some quick and tasty ideas, this book is for you.

Healthy Eating on a College BudgetReviewed in the United States on 4 January 2017
Bought this for our daughter for Christmas as she is heading off to college with her best friend and they spent a couple of days over break scouring the pages and making notes already for recipes they cannot wait to try! So far...this book is a big hit for them as they've been doing some early price budgeting for these meals and are surprised and excited that they'll actually be able to eat healthy on a student budget!

We have been eating Paleo for about 7 months now; I feel so much healthier and lost 15 lbs. without trying. I only wish I would have had this book when we first began! I've tried to learn about Paleo and find recipes on the internet, but this book compiled information, some of which i had seemingly missed. It also reminded me that I don't necessarily need to buy all of the specialty ingredients (although I do occasionally use them), focusing on common, healthy ingredients. I thought it was interesting that her recommended stock-up list contained nothing unusual. Paleo doesn't have to be expensive or complicated! The recipes are easy to follow and have their own flair. I enjoyed the author's commentaries about her and Mr. Not-So-Paleo. Great photos, attractive cookbook. Nice job, Elizabeth McGaw!

I bought this book as part of a "paleo" themed Christmas gift for my 20-something brother, recently turned paleo. I loved the layout and recipes so much I copied some of them into my "not-so-paleo" cookbook before wrapping it! The layout and illustrations are beautiful! McGaw writes some of the recipes with her "Mr. Not-so-paleo" in mind, so she gives easy substitutions or alternative side ideas for those in your life not as excited about paleo style cuisine. Very excited to give this gift on Christmas morning!
