I think the book is not, nor was it written to be, great literature, and those who are looking for great sailing literature should try the Hiscocks, for starters. But the book is 5 stars for what it is intended to be - a practical GO NOW! guide.
This is a well thought out book full of useful information. It isnt just a guide to the pacific, it also gives practical advice about everything to do with living on sailboat fulltime. I like that its an independent writer, and that this couple have plenty to share of their experiences. I recommend.
In addition to the details of the Pacific Crossing itself, there is also material devoted to preparing the boat, shake-down cruises, selling the boat in Australia etc. Its all good.
When I first bought and downloaded the book from Amazon, it had hundreds of formatting errors. I contacted the author directly and was emailed a well formatted, polished product.
Its a good, easy read and you won't get bogged down in technical details.
