Product Description

***The 1st standalone novel in The Pucked Series***

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn’t interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts. Suddenly, he's too difficult to ignore, and nearly impossible not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

This book has everything in it that I like to make it a great read for me.

Hot alpha male... check.
A fab leading female character that has no filter on what comes out of her mouth... check.
Duel POV... check.
Hockey... check.
A Book club... check.
Totally laugh out loud moments... double check!!

Can you tell how much I liked this book by any chance? So where to start... how much I loved the main characters in this books… Violet Hall with her mouth that engages before her brain made me laugh so much and the very yummy Alex Waters.

Violet has very little interest in hockey yet her stepbrother Buck aka 'the Yetti,' is playing for the Hawks. She's really not interested in going but she's talked into going to the game to support him with her mum, her stepfather and her book.Yes, you heard me right! Her book which she's trying to read for a book club is when she first sets eyes on the delicious captain, Alex. After winning the game and having drinks in the bar, Alex and Violet meet up. However, Violet is being cautious after dating a hockey player in the past. Let's just see how dubious she is!

Quote ~ Violet: 'Hockey players are bad news. Especially ones as hot as he is.'

Quote ~ Alex: “Hi, I’m Alex.” 'He’s all pretty smile and white teeth. They’re probably fake. Those eyes are something else, though, even if he is sporting the makings of a black eye. I try hard not to look directly at him, afraid I’ll be ensnared by his rugged, handsome face.'

But after a make out session and swapping numbers, they meet up again in the hotel corridor outside her room.

3.5 Stars!
This is the first book from this author for me. Overall I liked this one but it didn't wow me, some of the things that annoyed me probably wont bother others. Basically it comes down to the over use of the immature, in my opinion, words "beaver" and "monster c#%k" to describe body parts. It was soooo repetitive and it got to the point of not being funny.
The characters seemed a little lacking for me. Violet wasn't really my cup of tea, from the beginning she just seemed really judgmental. There were just too many times where she seemed to put others down because she thought they were dumb, especially her stepbrother, who she describes as unintelligent, hairy, yeti! I think his book is next and it really doesn't sound all that appealing from her descriptions of him.
Alex was a bit of a sweetie, though a little stalker at times. This is the first hockey romance I've read and I may look for some more.
If you don't like lots of sex and sexual references this one probably isn't for you.

That was me when I started reading this. It’s like I’d walked into the bedroom of the heroine Violet who is mid-stroke of something super private. The perverse side of me, couldn’t look away. Thankfully, her mother joins us in the room and the cloak of shame is quickly ripped off.
This book is light hearted fun and there are plenty of witty barbs thrown around. The sexscapades are unique and hot. There are many laugh-worthy moments from giggles right through to snorting and unable to breath.
This book is very different to Hunting’s other known works. It’s crasser, the characters are uncensored and the relationship is just a mess. That’s the part that makes it a less enjoyable read to her other works. The commentary about her boobs and his MC (read the book to figure that out) are repetitive and I found myself thinking ‘this isn’t anywhere in the quality of character development compared to Clipped Wings series’. I know it’s not fair to compare and the storylines are completely different but the relationship comparison of characters is not. ‘Girl is unsure of guy, they have a fling, guy hurts girl, guy now has to win or prove to girl that she is the one for him’. In my eyes, Hunting’s strength is writing about the trials and tribulations of a relationship. The growth of that and the characters was lacking for me.
I was given an advance reader copy for my honest opinion.

I loved and hated this in almost equal measure. The writing is fresh and engaging and certainly pulls you in, but by 70% the plot device set up was screamingly obvious and I was over the heroine's verbal diarrhoea. A lot of the plot banter was enjoyable and I liked things like the date offer to her boobs, but after a while the depth of their connection beyond the bedroom seemed to be lacking. I think the decision the hero made was incredibly callous and immature, bearing in mind that he was a 25 yo adult, not a young adult, and by that age, both my husband and I were qualified to write death certificates. I was also irritated by the heroine refusing any contact rather than at least talking to the guy about his mistake. I won't re-read this one.
I also think tying a cape around his MC was also really, really, weird.

A definite laugh out loud book - don't read in public if you want to avoid strange looks. Great story and loooooooved the characters, Violet is just hilarious and Alex is the ultimate hot. If you like a good sports romance then get this one.
