Happily, I was able to use the size chart to line up the US size 12 with a AUS 11 and made reference to the actual linear measurement to check the comparison with my local size. This turned out to be an accurate, snug fit. The slippers have hard wearing soles and comfortable uppers. Should suit my purpose as a home-bound loafer very well.
