It all packs neatly into it's own attached pouch case which makes losing parts really difficult. Yet somehow I managed. When contacted the Roadie Products people went beyond my expectations to rectify MY issue. Now my only problem is that I only ordered one. Two adults + dog, I have to order another before our next road trip because some cross ventilation is really necessary. (note to self: don't switch the dog's diet around within days of taking off on holidays) Btw, it fits perfectly on the sliding door of my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. Added bonus that two of these pack up small enough to fit in the compartment where your jack is stored.
Update: July 16
We actually used our roadie for the first time and the morning after discovered one pole broke and the others had significant ware. Weather was fine so not sure what caused it, we contacted roadie and they sent us new poles immediately. As of now we are going to assume we received a lemon.
Update July 28
Received a few batches of new poles yesterday, still happy with our purchase as of now. Roadie has continued to check in on us over Facebook, great customer support!
I see many people are having the same issue with poles breaking as I did, when I contacted roadie they sent me what I believe is a prototype or their newest pole. It's much more flexible! I'd advise anyone who has had this problem to contact Roadie, they are great to work with!
Overall I'm happy. First night we had a 30 minute episode of light rain. Car stayed dry with windows open about half way. Woke up in the morning and I had no condensation on the windows and the car was nice and cool.
Second night we had another rain episode but this time it was a bit more intense with thunderstorms. Rain was very heavy for about 15 minutes and a few drops started dripping inside the van.
I had to wait until the rain stopped in order to reopen the windows.
Product takes about 10 minutes per side to put up. Goes on very snug. If you are using it on a dodge caravan make sure to disengage the child lock so that you can open the doors from the inside otherwise it's a pain.
After an especially cold night winter camping, and a "friendly" visit from a local Coyote, we decided to "level up" from tent camping. With 2 of these units, to allow for a nice "cross-wind", and an air mattress, this was by far, the most comfortable camping experience we've ever had!! this is a great option for people who cannot afford a trailer or RV, but still appreciate the added comfort/security that tents cannot provide.
It was very easy to install, and you can still operate the side power windows when installed. The doors on our minivan are quite large, but we had no problems with fit, or finish. The integrated storage pouch is a big plus, and super convenient for storage. Once you use the Roadie, you'll winder why you ever went tent camping before!!! AWESOME PRODUCT!!!
The edges can be tightened with the built in draw strings which makes the fit as customizable as it gets. This is a must have to complete any in vehicle overnight camping set up. Highly recommend! Thanks Roadie.
The only issue I had was when I was taking them off the elastic string that holds it tight around the door broke, will be returning and purchasing a new one.
Worth the money as well as the easy install, have recommended them to multiple people already!
They are similar in concept, but miles better in practice than the mosquito net contraptions I built several years ago that are no use when it rains and a pain to set up and hold in place.
Quality is good. The nylon is ripstop so any minor tears and snags will be easy to repair. Seams are all taped, so leakage shouldn't be a concern. There is a stuff sack that is integral to the unit, so it won't go missing overnight, which is a nice touch. I'm a little unsure of the use of the bar that holds the weather shield open. Unless I'm missing something it may not stay in place in a big wind, even with a tie down strap using the loop provided.
Size Wise, this fit our truck with room to spare and mounts in under a minute (when on our trip, I expect we will leave the pole support for the weather shield on, and just fold the units and leave them ready to go). I think they would work on just about any vehicle with an opening door. I even got one on a front door of the truck with the mirror folded in (although it wouldn't fully protect if there was rain, due to the slope of the windshield frame).
