Product Description

Army Special Forces Sergeant Beth Garcia owes James Walker big-time for saving her life in Afghanistan. So the least she can do is agree to be his rock-climbing partner. After a year of physical therapy, she's finally eligible for deployment again, and what better way to celebrate than a weekend with a sexy Air Force hero? She's prepared to kick his ass at climbing-until James reveals what he really has in mind . . .

Pretending to be engaged wasn't the most brilliant idea James ever had. Neither was dragging Beth to his sister's wedding. The competitive tomboy is a far cry from the type of woman his family usually pushes on him. Yet Beth is more exciting than anyone he's ever met, and James has a feeling that if he can get her in bed, she'll blow his mind. They're just supposed to be acting-but as the wedding weekend wears on, Beth and James have a fighting chance at something real and much more lasting . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Crossing the Line 10 October 2015

Beth Garcia is a tough as nails Army Special Forces Sergeant who has just recovered from being shot in Afghanistan 9 months ago. She owns her life to James Walker a man in her unit who carried her to safety and who she had been crushing on secretly. When they meet up again stateside James asks Beth to go rock-climbing with him and she agrees but everything goes wrong when James's sisters are getting threats and they need him to come and help them. James has a bad relationship with his parents and stays away from them even if it means missing his sister's wedding. But the threats change everything and before Beth and James know it they are pretending to be engaged. Will they be able to resist the attraction to each other and stop the person threatening Jame's sisters before it is too late?

I really loved Beth's character. She is very passionate about her job and works hard to do right by the men and women under her command. She is a fierce, passionate, smart, loyal and independent heroine. Beth hasn't had the best luck with men and she doesn't want to get into a relationship. She thinks that relationships can't survive in the military. She has seen so much cheating going on and marriages breaking up that she never wants that to happen to her. But she didn't count on her connection with James. James is from a rich family but defied them and went into the military. James has always had a crush on Beth since he joined her unit. He just wants to do what he loves and his family to respect that. Sweet, Sexy, and a Man in Uniform. James is my kinda hero. I love how James had such a respect for Beth and her dedication to her career. I hate it when the man thinks his career is more important, but James never acted like that. James parents are horrible. All they want is for him to leave the job he loves and get married to a girl that they have chosen. Some of the things his parents say around or to James about Beth are so rude and mean. I hate rich people who think they are better than everyone else. I love how Beth was so excited to be Jame's fake fiancee because his family sounded like a soap opera. James and Beth both have amazing chemistry in and out of the bedroom.I loved the suspense in the story but was happy that the focus was on the romance. I did figure out the criminal very easy, but that didn't take away from the story for me.The sex scenes were steamy hotter then hell set pages on fire hot. That scene in the bathroom with the mirrors was Holy Guacamole Hot.The ending was everything you want at the end of a romance. Emmy Curtis is a very gifted author and can't wait to read more of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Move OVER THE LINE to the front of your TBR line! 23 October 2014

I got my first glimpse of Sergeant Beth Garcia and Senior Master Sergeant James Walker in Curtis' awesome Alpha Ops novella, "Dangerous Territory." To say these two got thrown together in intense circumstances is an understatement! He saved her ass after she laid it on the line for her team. They were both so freaking amazing, I couldn't wait to see more of Beth and James.

"Over the Line" was totally worth the wait! I loved getting to know them better. They're heroic, but human too. They have their issues and baggage. Oh...and they have chemistry. Lots of chemistry. Better still, they have intense, evolving, often conflicting emotions to back it up.

Even though their story takes place stateside, don't let your guard down. There's plenty of threats, action and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. There's also plenty of sexy tension and sexytimes to keep your pulse pounding. ;)

Curtis' clean, evocative writing delivers a tight story in a fast, compelling, highly readable package. I devoured this book!
5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, addicting, laugh-out-loud, thriller! 17 March 2015

I have so much mad love for this book!

If you're a fan of romantic suspense that is make-you-blush hot, combined with wit and humor that will make you laugh-out-loud, and a plot/storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning the pages at a rapid pace, this book is for YOU!

I mean--is there anything more hilarious and daunting than meeting another person's family in a high risk/tense situation? Forget enemy territory and being shot in the leg, weddings can be deadly on a budding relationship. ;)

Emmy taps into something very real and relatable with this situation. She showcases that family dynamic we all have--the way we each bring our own situations and personalities into the mix, each person so different and unique--but at the end of the day, no matter how different we are, no matter what is going on, we're there for each other. There's no love quite like that of family...even when said family is overprotective and obnoxious and there also might be a stalker on the loose.

Add a little mystery to the mix and a high profile job, and you have a nail-biting suspense with a romance that is skin-melting hot.

Not a complicated read, but good, and definitely steamy. Glad I read the Novella first though as it helped fill in the blanks. I had a bit of a problem with how the author handled the heroine. She is supposed to be a strong capable Spec Ops soldier, but she gets taken off guard and has to be rescued not once, but twice. That just didn't sit well with me and kind of ruined the story. Other than that it was pretty good read.
