Set in Australia’s remote top end, this book gives readers an insight into the rugged beauty of the Australian landscape from the Gulf of Carpentaria right across to the Western Australian Coast. Author Annie Seaton is clearly very familiar with this spectacular landscape and brings it to life in this story.
I liked Claire, the heroine of this story. I felt for her as she faced the prospect of being exposed to the media but made an effort to get on with her life as best she could anyway. For me though the stand-out character was Don. How could you not fall for a man who has a real love for his family, knows how to cook and confidently sets off into the wilderness for a drive from one side of the country to the other. Throw in his boat and for me you have pretty much a perfect package.
This story is well paced and kept me turning the pages. The threat of Claire being discovered kept the tension going and the building relationship between Claire and Don kept me invested. This story makes for entertaining summer reading.
The story is sweet, with sexual tension and a couple of kisses. Sometimes you feel like reading a book that is not all fire and this book fits the bill.
This would be a great read for a young adult dipping their toes in the romance genre for the first time.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

She is being viewed by the press as an absolute *itch that will do anything for ratings. It couldn't be further from the truth but no one really wants to hear the truth. Lies sell so much better. So, she cuts and dyes her hair and then she set up elaborate events to get her to bum*uck nowhere in Australia. There she falls in with the skipper of a cruise ship that he hires out to wealthy travelers wanting an adventure in the remote areas of the continent. She is hired on as his hostess which translates to maid and waitress in a uniform.
She operates out of fear. She is so afraid of being spotted and exposed so she tries to keep from saying anything about herself or where she came from. The skipper knows she is hiding something but he has no idea what. He is desperate to have a hostess on board so he is willing to do about anything to keep her coming on board for this cruise.
This story is so good. I could not put it down once I started. The love story is a good one, slow to develop even though they both know there is something between them. The descriptions of the areas as they are traveling from the home base to where the boat is moored is unbelievable. It is rough and the people not too different from every other place in the world. Some good, some bad. The conditions were very primitive and hard to imagine as I sit in my air conditioned house with running water!! It is a good lesson on Australia. I really enjoyed reading about that part of Australia. The language is a bit different from here in Florida but I have read enough books about down under that the words are starting to make sense. A few were new to me but you can pretty much guess what they mean.
It is a great story and a great romance. I do wish we had known what if anything happened to the pilot!! I know not much but still I would have liked to see him get his!! I definitely recommend this book. I found it to be very entertaining and interesting. I felt like I was there
