Action, action and more action. I loved the banter between the 3 lead characters. There is a lot of comedy in this book, more than I was expecting, but it was great. Yes at times it was a bit "James Bond", but hay it's fiction, right? This is one very talented author. This story has everything a reader craves and I recommend this book no matter what genre you normally read. You will not be disappointed.

I was literally blown away! This unputdownable read which blows hotter than hot, caused my emotions to run riot! Two leading men's roles; both exasperatingly intense and a heroine whose traits are more than peculiar. No, wrong word... spectacular. She's freakin' awesome and if I were a fella, I'd fall hard for this no nonsense, don't mess with me heroine with a capital H. Sleep deficit? I had it. Making sure any interrupts would not be tolerated while reading this nail-biting and fast-paced follow up of Best Laid Plans meant I could lap up one of the best action-packed books I've read this year. Metaphorically speaking, the pages flew. I couldn't wait to find out what the author had in store for three of the most outstanding characters I'd yet to meet this year. Even the most sceptical of us will believe in the leading lady's 'plans' in this knock your socks off story.

If I were able to be on a film set, this would be it! Scenes vividly described come alive. Whether the three protagonists are being shot at, tortured, hanging out of a car in smithereens, or hanging on to hope; any screenwriter would have their heyday with Marcelle De Sant, Liliana Brewster and Kingsley Law. They are most certainly not your normal trio. She wants payback, the two men in her life are mercenaries par-excellent who got caught up in her mission of vengeance. To begin with, she goes about it totally green but soon realises that to get to her target, she's going to need some expert training. I am not going to say too much as I don't want to spoil the story for you; however, I will give you a clue. When a ruthless Russian Bratva boss did the unheard of personally affecting Lily, she's prepared to go all the way regardless of her safety.

I loved the first book and wondered if this one would measure up. Of course it does!

Lily undergoes a bit of a transformation between when we saw her last and who she is now. She was absolutely a lot tougher than I will ever be, but she was no where near able to pull off the task she set out to do. She spends several months doing nothing but training and comes out the other side on a whole new level. I like how she still has her moments of doubt and the capability of showing heart despite her rougher exterior.

Kingsley is the person she seeks out for help. He has major combat skills. Before this point, I only knew him for the cool outward persona he gave. After getting to know him a little better, I see he has hidden layers including all the pain he's in. Lily is like a balm for his soul, in my opinion. I really hope to see more of him in a future book.

Marc has never gotten over Lily. He left her in hopes of protecting her from the lifestyle, and now he's taken up her fight as his own. His emotional growth path is just as deep as the changes Lily and Kingsley are going through. Marc has to accept things for what they are. He looses a little of his alpha broodiness while still retaining his warrior prowess.

There's a bit of building up and information giving in the beginning, but after the action really gets started, it doesn't stop. These three are on a mission and set to go at all times. I would truly love to see it all played out in film. I don't know how the author came of with some of the scenes. They will definitely keep the reader on the edge of their seat. Although everything is as explosive as any action movie I've seen, it's delivered in a believable, fact-checked kind of way. The characters are all total bad[...

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU NEED THIS SERIES 13 January 2016
By Heather / Obsessed With Myshelf - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
OUT OF PLANS is romantic suspense on steroids. Lily is a firecracker I’d love to have on my side. It was so motherf@#king delightful to read about a sharp, bold, intelligent and brave woman who cared too much and sometimes not enough. She was the perfect blend of hard and soft and I LOVED HER. Marc does too, he’s just too stubborn to see it.

When they come back together, the claws come out once again (did you possibly think it could any other way?!). The addition of Kingsley into the mix had me laughing and grimacing for longer than I thought was possible in a book about fighting and bullets and death. This book had me hopped up and rearing to go in every possible way: the sexual tension is locked & loaded and Lily’s five year plan has never been forgotten.

Marc has softened, and his vulnerability is in the form of one green eyed, red haired, wildcat. If you thought that they fought hard in the last book – get ready. The difference here is that he has a lot to overcome. He’s lost any trust he had when he left her on an island. His biggest problem is his inability to see her as an equal, which is – crazily enough – Lily’s greatest desire. As they fight their way to love (both literally and figuratively), they hurdle over every obstacle standing in their way. They’re stubborn and tenacious and perfect for each other.

Stylo writes like I’ve never read before and I absolutely fell for it. Lock, stock & barrel. It’s complex but easy to follow, exciting but sweet. She mixes just enough personality into these otherwise hardened characters to make you want them to succeed and want them to live and want them to fall in love. These “bad people” are now MY bad people and I cheered for them.

If you want heat, fire, a kick ass leading lady and one hardened but vulnerable man, you NEED THIS SERIES. Way to go, Stylo. I’m all in when it comes to your books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Twists and turns, humor and hotness. Loved this sequel! 24 December 2015

I loved every minute of this book. I was sucked into the action and suspense from the very beginning. I was dying to see what would happen when Lily happened upon Marc again--because it was bound to happen--and how Lily's quest to kill her sister's murderer would go. It was an exciting, action-packed roller coaster with just the right amount of sexy and laughs.

I really loved how we got to see a different side of each of the characters in this sequel. Lily was more than just the girl trying to be a bad a$$ while falling for her adversary-turned-ally. Marc was more than the badass, fix-everything-and-wreck-everyone guy. Kingsley was more than the sexy Brit with a big gun. We got to see the true flaws and struggles behind the bada$$ery and mercenary lifestyle. It even hurt my heart a few times to see them at their weakest.

As with the first book, I loved the dynamic of the characters--their love/hate relationships that made it difficult to work together when they were such a strong team. And Mr. Ledo... Well, let's just say I never thought I'd take to the character of a drug dealer the way I did with him. He was definitely a win of an addition to the already stellar character list.

The twists and turns in this book were great plotting by the author. She kept me engaged and coming back for more at every free moment. She kept surprising me, kept entertaining me, and kept leaving me in awe of the unexpected directions the book was taking me and how she both did things I loved and things I hated with the characters. I am in love with this unique genre that Ms. Fantome has kind of built. It isn't typical of any genre, rather a mixture of many. It's a great escape if you're bored with the genre you are reading and need something to bring you out of that book funk. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and am kind of sad to see it end. Highly recommended!
5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite book in the duet!! 8 March 2016

Complete post and character interview with Kingsley Edge: (...)

I want to start this review by saying I was right on my review of Best Laid Plans, what I missed in the first book IS here in Out of Plans. And I’m so glad!! What I missed in it was what was yet to come and Stylo delivered it very very well.

As usual, her research was impecable. I LOVE when authors do a thorough research. And I witnessed it. Stylo asked me for a few pointers about Portuguese and Brazil, but I had no idea they were for this particular book and when I saw my actual city, Belo Horizonte, in it I totally squeeled!! LOL

Now for the story…Out of Plans starts where Best Laid Plans finished, or some months after. Lily isn’t letting Marc get away with what he did in Best Laid Plans and Marc is set on doing it his way. Fights and confusion are bound to happen and plans are bound to fail. But as a reader, we enjoy every moment of those. I LOVED how Out of Plans started and the new characters that we meet in it.

I love that Marc truly met his match in Best Laid Plans and seeing him realizing it in Out of Plans is AWESOME. Made me connect a lot more with him.

We have an even tougher Lily, a somewhat new Marc and an even more AWESOME Kingsley Law. I have to say I love Lily and Marc, but somehow I REALLY connected with Kingsley. But I have to say I connected with both Marc and Lily even more in this book than in Best Laid Plans.that for me, Kingsley completely stole the show, he is my favorite character.

Actually, Stylo introduced another GREAT side character, Damiano Ledo and I also LOVED the guy. He is such a bad guy, but hey, I have a thing for them. :)

Stylo has such a knack for introducing, and creating, side characters. ALL her side characters are great! I mean, her main characters are awesome, but it’s not always we see such great side characters that interact and combine so well with the main ones. I love how she brings us these great side characters that end up gaining our hearts (I mean, Sanders 4EVAH!!! <3).

Out of Plans like Best Laid Plans is FILLED with tons of action and it all works so well for the story. It doesn’t get lost in it, just the opposite, it makes the story! Out of Plans isn’t necessary a romance. Actually, here in Brazil the word for “novel” is “romance”. So a “romance” isn’t about being a romantic story, although most of them are. So Out of Plans is the type of novel that isn’t about the romance, the romance is the background to the story. And I LOVED that because it completly works. Not that it doesn’t have romance. I mean, Marc??? The man has some stamina in him!!! ;)

Another thing I LOVE about Stylo’s writing, and that is super present in this book, as in any of her other books, is the fact her characters are who they are and they don’t apologize for it. I love that, because they are not trying to be good or politicaly correct or anything like that. I love that Marc has no qualms about who he is and how me makes a living. And I LOVE that Lily came out of her shell and became like that too. In Best Laid Plans we eventually find out she has a HUGE way to go, she has a dangerous plan to get revenge against a big bad guy. And this guy finally appears in Out of Plans. Lily has gone through a LOT in her life and everything she goes through just make her tougher and tougher. But that doesn’t mean she becomes heartless, just the opposite, she has such a great heart! But just like Marc and Kingsley, she doesn’t apologize for being who she became. And I LOVE that. It’s always refreshing to see such genuine characters.

Lily had a LOT to learn, mostly physically but also emotionally. She can’t let her emotions ge the best of her, but then she has the BEST master. But then, Marcalso has a LOT to make up to Lily, and acting all alone isn’t the right way to do it. I think his biggest lesson is learning that having a partner doens’t make him weaker, it just adds to the fun and strength in a job. And oh boy, Marc has a surprise coming his way, he so isn’t expecting what’s coming for him, but he so needed that!!

Lily had a lot to acomplish from Best Laid Plans to Out of Plans, but she isn’t the only one. Marc too has a lot to overcome. Lily truly has changed his life and him as well. And it was great to see this change. She made him more human, but still lethal. He didn’t lose his edge, but he definitely had some changes to his personality. What happened between him and Lily was a hell of a mismatch of ideals and thoughts. He thought he was doing the best, which obviously he wasn’t and Lily was so right to be upset. I like that Lily gives as good as she gets (in all aspects, in fighting, in sex – LOL- and in an emotional level too), and I like that doesn’t let DeSant get away with his actions. And I particularly love that even though both of them changed a lot, they didn’t lose their essence, either their own individual essence or their essence as a couple.

As I said, Out of Plans is an action-packed book, but I loved every minute of it. The action scenes are so well written and it felt like I was watching a movie. If this was a movie, I’d definitely go watch it more than once! :)

Once again Stylo showed her versatility as a writer. Not only in writing stories in different genres but in creating great characters and side characters in her stories. Her characters truly make her stories, but in this case I think the story in itself, with all the action and the great scenarion, that we could feel we were into along with the characters while reading the book, is what makes Out of Plans such a great read! It’s the perfect combination of writing, flawless research, genuine and real (and refreshing) characters, great insertion of new characters and a good story!!
5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars! Out Of Plans, book 2 (2). Action-filled mission of vengeance w/ villains, greed, danger & wallbanging, contemptuous sex 6 February 2016

Format: Kindle Edition
“Slow and sweet was nice, but she'd f**** ed his brains out during round two, and the third, they'd gotten a noise complaint from the front desk.”

Books in The Mercenaries series must be read in order:
Book 1: Best Laid Plan
Book 2: Out of Plans

In Best Laid Plans (book 1) mercenary and hitman Marcelle De Sant, Marc and transporter Liliana Brewster, Lily were thrown together on a dangerous and suspenseful mission trying to deliver stolen blood diamonds to the Russian mob.

It was a race against time through a desert filled with land mines and riddled with villains. Clouded by lies and distrust they fought their fierce sexual attraction and their way out of Africa.

Out Of Plans</b> (book 2) picks up six months after book 1‘s shocking ending. While Marc is trying to carry on the mission, Lily is set on avenging her sister and revenging the man who hurt her.

When their paths cross again it is nothing short of electrifying; raw and contemptuous sex and hilarious bantering. Again they find themselves chased by enemies and plagued by setbacks on a roller-coaster of plan B’s.
“They didn't say anything. The only noise in the room was their ragged breathing.”

MARCELLE DE SANT, Marc: 30 years/Mercenary/Hitman/$$$$/Dark brown hair/Blue eyes/Orphan/6’0”.
Eight words to describe Marcelle De Sant, Marc: Charming, loner, conflicted, noble, protective, possessive, ruthless and unpredictable.

LILIANA BREWSTER, Lily: 27 years/Transporter/Former banker/Red hair/Green eyes/5’7”.
Eight words to describe Liliana Brewster, Lily: Smart, hot-headed, seductive, determined, conflicted, naïve, feisty and fearless.

Out Of Plans, told from alternating POVs, is a suspenseful race to right wrongs with the perfect blend of danger, suspense, witty bantering and sizzling sex. Story ends on a high, closing the book a mission with a horizon filled with new plans.

Spellbinding story-telling! Suspenseful and intriguing plot! Off-the-charts and noisy sex scenes!
“See you around, De Sant,” she called out as he opened the door. He smirked at her. “Not if I see you first, Brewster,” he called back. Then he winked, stepped through the door, and was gone.”

4.0 out of 5 stars Kingsley's Law: MUST READ!!! 21 January 2016

Stylo Fantome has done it again. Boy can she write a good action packed book with twists and turns and some sexy times in between! But, this book didn't have me as captivated as book one. ALmost, but not quite. THe best parts were Lily and Kingsley scenes. I did enjoy her and Marc together as a couple, but Lily and Kingsley were fun and just a fun team to see work as a pair. That is what brought this awesome book up even more for me. The adventures through the other countries, other drug lords and just bad nasty people in general kept me fixated throughout. And I kid you not, Lily has got to be the smartest and toughest of them all. She surpassed Marc on a few levels (which surprised me), but she was on a level playing field with Kingsley. Could it be Kingsley's Laws that boosted her up?
"Kingsley's law: in a crisis, if you're not thinking about what is directly in front of you, then you should probably be thinking about what you'd like to wear when you're buried, because that's the next stop."
I love to see a fighting, scene-stealing woman in books such as these and Stylo did not disappoint. But what did disappoint me (spoiler...must read book one before this one...) was how Marc left Lily in the first book. And why didn't he ever come looking for her? I understand their line of work didn't hold out well for relationships, but theirs was different.
Regardless, the storyline that was given and the journey we went through on different continents, different countries was extraordinary. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. The friendship and the love played out between our 3 mercenaries is what held everything together. Excellent wrap up of Marc and Lily's story.
Now, tell me we are going to get Kingsley's story too? Right? He has a story and I know it will be crazy and full of dirty hot antics!
