From the Back Cover
'Äö√Ñ√∫You'Äö√Ñ√ re not going anywhere, Father. You'Äö√Ñ√ ll get better, 'Äö√Ñ√π Ash said, tears obscuring her vision as they ran down her face.
'Äö√Ñ√∫No, I won'Äö√Ñ√ t. It'Äö√Ñ√ s better to get used to that fact now, dear.'Äö√Ñ√π The rasping of her father'Äö√Ñ√ s breathing, and her sniffling echoed through the stone chamber. 'Äö√Ñ√∫I'Äö√Ñ√ m so sorry for letting you down this way.'Äö√Ñ√π
After her father'Äö√Ñ√ s untimely death, Ashelandra'Äö√Ñ√ s cruel uncle forces her to take on the job of a servant in her own house, rather than the baroness she was meant to become. But her secret sorcery power could be the key to winning back her home and following her heart to a future she never imagined.
This fantasy-infused Cinderella story puts an all-new twist on classic fairy tale. Set in a rich world of magic and mystery, it'Äö√Ñ√ s a spell-binding read.

"Out of the Ashes" is based of off Cinderella which traditionally makes it an instant-love story, where two characters who know nothing about each other fall in love because the other is just so good looking. Alicia Buck does well here though. The romantic parts of her stories are not artificial or sappy, rather, though there is attraction from the start, she has the romance develop more realistically over time and you get to know the characters and connect with them and see their reasons for liking each other or not based solely on physical appearance.
I took of one star only because I felt like the writing wasn't exceptional at first. It wasn't bad, but the beginning, before the father dies, just didn't seem to flow right. The dialogue with the father just felt. . . off. Once the story got going though the writing started to flow more naturally, and I felt was it was quite good from then on.
