Our Way is the definition of complicated. When two people have been friends for a lifetime, you certainly don’t want to jeopardise it by adding sex to the mix. Now technically this shouldn’t be an issue when your best friend is gay. Right?!
From their first interaction, Nathan and Eliza clicked. As newbies on their first day on the job, they were joined at the hip. A friendship that has seen them practically living together as close as any couple could be. Their arrangement was perfect. Except for when they both started feeling a shift, and neither could pinpoint the why.
It seems as if overnight attitudes and feelings are changing. An awareness is setting in. Eliza is feeling the pinch of being celibate for too long and Nathan is experiencing an attraction towards a woman. Now having only slept with men, getting hard over his best friend is frightening.
There is no denying how deep their affections and love is and a romantic relationship is possibly the next step. So, they try. However, the underlying insecurity Eliza feels lingers like a dark cloud. Because the fear of Nathan leaving her for a man down the track weighs on her. And insecurities can fester to ruin things.
Our Way was a modern twist to the friends to lover’s trope. Admittedly it wasn't what I expected and that’s probably why I enjoyed it so much. It was emotional, sexy and quite witty in parts while exploring a delicate situation. This author is always a winner for me.
