I was amazed by how rapidly some sexual practice have evolved
Reviewed in the United States on 19 February 2016Verified Purchase
I’m not a student, just a married guy interested in learning more about human sexuality. This book definitely delivers. It covers a wide range of topics, expanding my knowledge on all aspects of sexuality. I was amazed by how rapidly some sexual practice have evolved. I was surprised by many of the studies and other facts that are included. Most importantly I gain a new appreciation for the need for direct, honest communication between partners. For guys, learning to listen more and accept feedback on how to improve the sexual experience of a partner. Changing your approach, speed, touch, etc. may vastly increase your partner’s desire for sex and ability to achieve multiple orgasms. For women, openly share your preferences and provide specific feedback on what works best for you. Faking orgasms only encourages the wrong behavior. For both partners, be willing to explore a variety of sensual and sexual experiences including some you feel are taboo, sharing what works best, what changes might help and what you don’t want to do again. Any behavior between consenting adults that produces pleasure should be embraced and repeated. By the end of the book, my wife and I had several meaningful conversations on how to improve our relationship of many years. I hope you have a similar experience with your significant other.

A comprehensive introduction to human sexuality
Reviewed in the United States on 24 December 2017Verified Purchase
Gives a good introductory overview of human sexuality. I would not suggest this for people who already have had a good introduction to sexuality. As someone who already knew quite a lot about the physiology and psychology of sex, I found it adequate. However, I realize that I am the exception, not the norm. As someone who took a class in Houston, I can attest to the fact that for my classmates, the majority of which had what Texas considers to be sex ed, it was quite illuminating. Every student I talked with stated that they learned a lot. I recommend this for anyone who has been through abstinence-only (or similar) sexual education. This book is comprehensive, but again, introductory.

Good book, lots of info, and easy to read, should be mandatory for everyone!

Wow. I'm only four chapters in and this text book already has taught me so much about both sexes. I am a male who grew up in a house of women and I thought I knew a lot about women......I don't. There are so many things this book can teach you if you are interested in learning some things that will improve your quality of life. Sexuality is one of the most important subjects for humans and the lack of learning resources in this field are limited. The result is that people know little to nothing about their own bodies. All I can say is "Get the book".

Good textbook
Reviewed in the United States on 30 May 2019Verified Purchase
This was a textbook for a human sexuality class, and it was fantastic. It goes a little more in depth in several areas compared to other textbooks, but at the same time it's not a chore to read. I think everyone could benefit from reading this text.
