Book two in the Haven Security series

She kept his son a secret for years—she should pay for her deceit. Instead, he’s fighting the urge to drag her back into his arms—and bed.

When ex-commando—and now owner of Haven Security—Nathan Haven discovers he has a son, it’s enough of a kick to the gut. Learning at the same time that this child he’s never met is losing the battle with leukemia—the last straw. He vows to make Rebecca Hammerton regret her decision to keep his son a secret from him. But first he is going to do everything in his power to help defeat the disease that threatens his boy’s life. Then he will deal with the woman that walked away from him seven years ago without so much as a by your leave, turning his heart to stone.

He just has to suppress the constant urge to drag the damn sexy heartbreaker back into his arms—and his bed—first.

Haven Security series

Nathan Haven and the highly skilled, lethal ex-military men that make up the team at Haven Security are more than qualified to protect their clients from danger but these sexy alphas are completely defenseless when it comes to the women that invade their hearts.

About Donna Gallagher

Sydney-born Donna Gallagher decided at an early age that life needed be tackled head on. Leaving home at fifteen, she supported herself through her teen years. In her twenties she married a professional sportsman, her love of sport—especially rugby league—probably overriding her good sense.

The seven-year marriage was an adventure. There were the emotional ups and downs of having a husband with a public profile in a sometimes glamorous but always high-pressure field. There were always interesting characters to meet and observe, and even the opportunity to live for a time in the UK.

Eventually Donna returned home a single woman, but she never lost her passion for watching sport, as well as the people in and around it.

Now happily re-married and with three sons, Donna loves coffee mornings with her female friends, sorting through problems from the personal to the international. But she's on even footing with the keenest man when it comes to watching and talking rugby league.

Donna considers herself something of a black sheep in a family of high achievers. Her brother has a doctorate in mathematics and her sister is a well-known Australian sports journalist.

An avid reader, especially of romance, Donna finally found she couldn't stop the characters residing in her imagination from spilling onto paper. Naturally, rugby league is the backdrop to her spicy tales of hunky heroes and spunky heroines overcoming adversity to eventually find true love.

A multiple ARRA awards finalist in 2013 & 2014 for her League of Love series, Donna is spreading her genre wings In 2015 with the launch of her new romantic suspense Haven Security Series and the re-release of her contemporary erotic novella A Fruitful Intimacy.

In this story Rebecca has been keeping a secret for 7 years. She is a single mom to a little boy named Danny that has lukiemia. She has ran out of options of finding a bone marrow donor for her son. She knows she must get in contact with danny's father if she has any chance of trying to save him from this disease. She sends Nathan an email asking him to do a blood test to see if he is a match for her son. She has never told Nathan that they have a son but he is the spitting image of him. He knows that he is his and is upset she never told him about him. He must first get tested and than goes to her house to confront her about it. When he meets his son, he knows he will do everything in his power to help him and wants to get to know him. He moves in to help care for his son while they wait on his test results to see if he is a match. They both still have feelings for eachother after all these years. Can they get it right the second time around? Can they have there happily ever after? Can Nathan save his son from this disease before its to late?

I loved this story. It makes you believe in second chances. I felt so bad that Rebecca dealt with her son's disease for so long by herself. It took a lot of courage on her part to watch him be so sick and finally do the right thing by emailing Nathan for help. She wanted to give her son the best chance of getting better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Meet Nathan Haven….so worth the wait!!! 8 May 2015

I love this series!!! I could not put it down finished in a day! Chapter one Starts off with a bang, Nathan the head of Haven security received and email that brings his life to a sudden halt. We find out quickly what caused Nathan’s heart to go cold and we see an opportunity for the ice to melt and heal. We also find out Toni and Jason are married. I don’t want to give to much away but Nathan finds out he has a 7yr old son that needs his help. This story has romance, intrigue, hot sex, and a hopeful ending. We meet some new characters, and as always the Haven Security Team has each others back. They are a family. As before, this story ended to quickly, I wanted more. I see more in the future and I hope we get to know Chris’s Story next and catch up on everyone else. Thanks Donna for another Awesome story! Congratulations!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars an enjoyable read 17 August 2015

This was a very emotional read my heart went out for Rebecca to have to deal with a son being so sick alone is trying. Yes it was her choice but it still would have been hard. Poor Nathan finding out in one breath he had a son and in the next one he might die was just heartbreaking. I thought this was a great story with a wonderful plot. I felt it had wonderful characters with soul who stood up for what they believed in.

The characters were great, supportive and went well with the story. There was a few things that throw me in one sentence he said cookie and after that he calls it a biscuit. Nate is holding Danny getting ready to make a call where the author said Jason holds him close to his chest. I reread this a few times and it does say Jason not Nate. This story was base in the US with US military so the Aussie terms just didn’t fit or work for me. The suspense with the brother and the kidnapping I did not feel was needed there was enough going on without that. I will say it did add a little to the story but for me it just felt off.

I did enjoy the chemistry between Nate and Bec even after all these years they could not forget each other. Their love grew even when they felt let down by the other. Nate did grow and really thought about how he would have dealt with the issues years ago. He came to understand he most likely would not have been what they needed. Once they talked it was easier for them both to see how it was and what they meant to get other. It was easier to forgive. I felt the author dealt with some very touchy issues in class giving the story meaning as well as romance. Giving love a second chance with two people who truly loved each other. Overcoming the past even when it was hurtful and left both lacking. I thought the book had a few issues but was a good read one I really enjoyed. I am giving it a 3.5 moving it up to a 4 star since the author did hold my interest and kept the book interesting. I do look forward to reading more from this author. This is the first I have read of her work

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot security men....OH YEAH!!! 15 August 2015

This is the very first book I have read by Ms. Gallagher and I can promise you it will not be my last. I am really really liking the Haven Security crew. And Nathan being the boss is a natural born leader. He is one of those guys you pass on the street and have to take a second, third, four, etc look at. He is such a great character and then throw in Bec who is a single mom with a very sick child, and you get some moments that will make your head turn. Bec is someone I relate to very easily. She is as strong as they come, but has kept her heart guarded since she broke things off with Nathan. Nathan has pretty much done the same thing. He keeps his heart wrapped up very tight and doesn't share it with anyone. Bec and Nate are forced together by their son Danny. He is such a sweet boy. I really loved seeing him and have Bec and Nate bond over their love for him. They have many ups and downs but I will say that they quickly discover that the other is "the one" and they have to figure out how to move past the well past. Can they do it? Do they even want to? Well I refuse to give away any spoilers at all. I will say this book is definitely worth the read. I can't wait to find out what happens next with the oh so hot and yummy security team. This was a 4.75 AMAZEBALLS stars from me.
