5.0 out of 5 stars Best girl-finally-meets-boy scene in a long long time 7 September 2013

As a girl who married a gamer geek myself, I have to tell you, the opening scene of No One's Angel is pitch perfect. "Angel," going by her online handle, finds "Arion" in her darkest hour, desperate, broke, and needing an escape. But this author isn't a one-scene wonder. This story has a breathlessness about it that will keep you turning pages.

The book hits on some of the themes we've come to expect in NA, dark past, secrets, abuse, damage, but Walker's writing skill takes it above the average and will really resonate with readers who want some depth to their romance.

So, I dare you to click on the cover and read the opening chapter. You're going to have to keep reading, and I think you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok 4 May 2016

My only problem with this story was that angel was seriously annoying throughout this book. I understand bad things happened to her, but she was moody and fickle. She couldn't ever make her mind up and it was frustrating and annoying. The guy offered his heart on a silver platter over and over and, she was just being a Debbie downer. Irritating. Other than that the writing was great and the story line was great as well.
4.0 out of 5 stars some heavy subject matter, but a fun read! 29 May 2014

Terrific story! This is the well-told tale of Angel and Arion, also known as Tess & Axel. (If you had an awesome name like Axel, why would you need a different handle?! LOL) They met online, developing a friendship (and more, tho not admitting it) while gaming.

And then one day, Angel disappears and Arion's life spirals down the crapper. Well, not his life, per se, just his emotions. Angel's life pretty much went down the crapper, which is why she disappeared. But one day she shows up on his doorstep, and immediately he is determined to not let her leave again.

There are immediate sparks, there is a history but because of the different routes their lives have taken, each of them have some struggles to work through. Angel needs to work on not running away, and Arion needs to work on not holding on so tightly. They work on building their friendship and figuring out how to accommodate their attraction IRL. There are of course individual things they each must work through, and while Angel opens up a lot there are still secrets she's keeping.

Watching the build up and workings of this relationship, while getting to know these characters was a true joy. Some of the stuff Angel goes through... respect, I'm tellin ya!! : ) And Arion is - despite his need to hold on just a tad on the side of too much - one of my new favorite book boyfriends. *hearts*

I know this is a lot of gushing w/o really giving too much of what the story is about, but that's what a synopsis is for! This is just my little piece to say you should check this book out, because it's very, very good! : )

5.0 out of 5 stars HAD ME FROM THE FIRST WORD 28 September 2013

I absolutely loved this book. Reading the synopsis I wasn't sure if I would like it...the basic theme of two online personalities that fall in love...not really much of a love story, however, the book is so much more than that. The adrenaline that I felt while reading this book was so intense that I couldn't put it down because the rush didn't end until the last word. The book is full of life, real life emotions. I felt scared, sad, happy, anxious, comforted etc...

The tale of two lost soles that find one another online and fall in love without even seeing each other is not the typical romance novel. There is a lot to be said about falling in love with someone based on their personality, in essence their soul rather than physical attraction. This book portrayed that in an amazing way.

The excitement of the drama that unfolds had me on edge the entire book. I felt the fear from Tess, I felt how conflicted she was throughout and I felt the love she had for Arion. I felt the love Arion had for Angel and I felt the desperation he felt for holding on to her.

This was truly an amazing story. I recommend this book. It is a lot more than what the synopsis encompasses and it is definitely a great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars No One's Angel 5 October 2013

I was in between books and thought I would give this one a try. Ultimately I'm glad I did, as it was a pretty decent read.

Angel and Arion were best friends in their online world of gaming. Until one day she disappeared without so much as a goodbye. So what happens when she suddenly shows up at his door soaking wet and scared? Well, he takes her in of course!

This book was a fairly fast read that kept my interest despite some grammatical issues. I thought that Arion was a little too quick to jump to the smothering 'I want you' stage, but I was able to work with it.

Angel is running from her past - a horrible relationship with a man that abused her. Mentally and physically. She's broken at best, and doesn't know if she'll ever be "Angel" again; the girl that Arion had fallen for online. She's timid, jumpy, and scared ... but occasionally you can see a bit of her fire ignite under the surface. All in all, I liked her character.

Arion was heartbroken when Angel disappeared from his life the first time, and now that she's back, he'll do anything to keep her. He's scared that he'll wake up one day to find her gone again, so he tends to hold on a bit too tightly. He's protective and caring, and I couldn't help but like him ... despite his borderline stalkerish tendencies.

I would have preferred a bit more tension between the two main characters at certain points, and I definitely think they were too quick to forgive at others. All in all though, it was a good read and I'm glad that I had stumbled upon it!
