Product Description

He's got everything but game....

William Drake is an artistic genius with a photographic memory and the intensity to master practically any task. Oh, and he owns a chunk of a billion-dollar gaming company. A twenty-six year-old guy with his wealth, talent, and good looks shouldn't have problems winning over women. Except he does. To be exact--and detail-obsessed William is always exact--he's got problems with Jenna Kovac, the troubled beauty who has his heart working overtime and his tongue tied in knots.

And she can't afford to lose.

Jenna Kovac is a survivor. When war ripped her world apart, she lost her family, her homeland, and her one true love. She's made a new life for herself in the US, but she's learned that nothing is permanent, and some nights it's not even safe to dream. When a scumbag sells her future out from under her, suddenly the only man who can get it back is William Drake, geeky--but scorching-hot--social disaster. William must learn to stay cool under pressure for the all-important duel he's about to fight. Unless she can teach him to loosen up, she'll lose everything. Again.

But Jenna's got a few things to learn from this irresistibly enigmatic man. As they spend time together, they're soon exchanging long, slow kisses--and painful secrets. There's so much more to William.

Something that might be worth taking one more risk...

I really enjoyed William and Jenna's story. As always, the writing and dialogue in Brenna Aubrey's books is funny, quirky and sexy.

Loved this story and the positive way Brenna portrayed the main character with Aspergers. Working in an industry supporting individuals with this diagnosis, unfortunately many in society do not have a clear understanding the challenges individuals with Aspergers face. Brenna helped breach that gap with this book. Such a beautiful story, well worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original characters are refreshing 3 July 2016

How interesting and refreshing to have a book of this genre written about a very unlikely hero. Thank you, Brenna Aubrey for daring to break the mold.

We've already met William in the previous 4 books, so we know he can be prickly and difficult due to his Asperger's. But we also know how loyal and caring he can be. In this book we see how he has not only routines that he feels he needs to follow in order to remain calm enough to function, but we also see that he has a strong sense of morals and tremendous determination. Here we get to know about his very sweet and loving character, and it is heartwarming.

We also get to know Jenna a lot better. She was a pretty minor character up to this point. Her back story is heartbreaking, but she needs to get beyond it. What comes across as selfish is actually great fear. It takes her a long time to come to grips with how she needs to lead her life. We are introduced to her wonderful ability to help people with personal tragedies.

Using the Renaissance role players is a great format for this story. It gives William the code of conduct he needs to function, and it provides a great way for him to face off against Jenna's former loser boyfriend Doug.

I enjoy reading about unlikely heroes and heroines, and this book provides us with both. It is a complete pleasure to read something original that doesn't rely on the Alpha Male who needs to dominate for a change. This story has a lot of heart. It's not always a happy story, but that's OK too. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my Goddess!!! 16 May 2016

This Series is my favorite!!! Adam is my all time book boyfriend, and no you cannot have him :) When I got this book as an ARC from the author herself, of course I dropped all other books and this took a first row seat on my kindle. I love all the characters in this series, so I was super excited to start and find out what our friends have been doing….

Oh my goddess!!! I don't know how to write my review, from a book lover who just loved this story, or from a personal point of view of a mother who has a non neurotypical son herself. Jenna is a story herself. We know her as the book smart best friend to Mia, who also has a geeky side to her. She is so much more complex, a devastating past has shattered her heart and left her with “wanderlust.” William, or Wil as only Jenna refers to him as is hilarious. Being autistic on a high functioning level his brain does not work the same way as a neurotypical, but it's so funny to read his die hard honesty, not out of maliciousness but out of the pure raw honest truth.

This book had to be hard to write, but damn you did a great job Brenna. The emotion that enveloped the pages was so thick you could not turn the page without feeling the heaviness with each turn. The sexual tension between Jenna and Wil was apparent from the first chapter, you were finding yourself fanning yourself with your book/kindle just to cool down.

This story includes a bet, funny banter between Adam and Jordan, early breakfast dates between Mia and William, Sunday dinners at Peters house, talk of a wedding date, scenes back in Williams childhood bedroom with his figurines, all sound familiar? This is book is everything we have been waiting for, I loved the deeper personality Jenna and William showed us, they are truly meant for each other. It took this book to really realize how similar they really are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't say enough about how much I loved this book!! 16 May 2016

For The One was worth every dime I paid for this novel.

In fact, it is my favorite book of the entire series.

I adored reading Jenna's experiences as she fled a war torn country for a better life in the U.S. The author truly captures the tragedies that Jenna faced and how they shaped her into a strong woman with a sincere desire to assist others out of the goodness of her heart. However, because of her past she believes her life lacks permanence, and this becomes a major issue as the novel progresses.

While I loved Jenna's strength and her unapologetic stance on her sexuality, it was William's character that truly stole my heart.

He is a handsome, intelligent artist with autism, and his chapters were my favorite to read. He is so adorable and clever, you can't help but fall for him. I loved his perspective on life, his friends, and the way he a broke down words and phrases that people used when communicating with him (i.e. If u were to say " I am falling for you" he would picture someone falling off of a cliff or falling down the stairs). Honestly, his character and his internal monologue have some of the funniest lines of the entire 5 book series.

Another thing that endeared William to me was his unfailing honesty, even to the point that he would offend others by not sugar coating the truth. His character has an inherent innocence and unique strength that I found irresistible. I thought that Adam from the first three books would always be my favorite male lead but William won me over totally and completely. There is no way that you can't love him! ❤️❤️

I can not say enough wonderful things about this book. I plan to re read it again soon because it was that good. I love this author's talented writing style and I encourage anyone who is considering purchasing this novel to do so because this is a five star read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kudos for a "Non-Neurotypical" Hero 6 September 2016

This was an amazing story for me for several reasons. It's not often a romance author colors outside the alpha male box these days, and while I can think of a couple of great romances with heroes on the autism spectrum, they were historical romances. Jennifer Ashley's The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie is an excellent take on how someone like William might have been viewed by the very appearance-conscious British aristocracy during the Regency. But it's very refreshing to see a person on the autism spectrum viewed as a hero…and a pretty damn dreamy one!

The portrayal for me was spot-on to someone I know and love well, my nephew, who is crazily enough named Liam. My Liam is only seven, but he is so close to William in his personality traits that I kept thinking "Ha! Liam would say it just that way." The difference being that my Liam has the benefit of the years of study in autism research since the fictional Liam was a child, and a parent able and willing to homeschool him as well as obtain intensive behavioral therapy for him at a preschool age. My Liam has learned through long practice (and the ultimate incentive…phone and tablet games, like William, he is definitely all about the win!) to look people in the eye when he talks, to attempt patience when they can't operate at his level (his Ferrari brain, as he describes it) and to most of all be able to identify for himself when he's heading for that proverbial meltdown and why. As a former special education teacher, I know how often kids have little or none of that therapy available for many reasons, and how terribly it impacts self-esteem to hear what people say around and about them as if they're deaf. My Liam has the same visual gifts as William, though I don't think he's got the seeing in pictures that William shares with Temple Grandin. But he does the 3d visualization, with near-total recall. And he recalls things he hears even better. As well as knowing he hears and remembers all the nasty things total strangers have said around him, like his mother should have him taken away if she can't control him, I learned NEVER to make promises to him I might not be able to keep when he was two, because he would be hurt and confused weeks, even months later when my chronic illness would change plans. It broke my heart. It was all to easy to envision some of the scenes with William as a child.

There is something incredibly special about your relationship with a person who can't conceive of being anything less than completely honest. They make you better because of it. This was a big part of this book, the ways in which the hero and heroine made each other better people. It was realistic and touched me to the heart to watch William achieving milestones my own Liam is lucky enough to learn so much earlier (barring the smexy times, of course!) I have such hope for my Liam, to read of the success of a character so close to how I visualize him as an adult was wonderful. I've loved Brenna's previous books, not least because I've been an online gamer, specifically of MMORPG's, since Everquest came out in 1996. But this one hit so close to home, it's become my favorite. I hope we revisit William and Jenna in the future, though I'm looking forward to what evil and wonderful things Brenna can do with Adam and Mia's wedding!

5.0 out of 5 stars heart-pounding, deliciously romantic story! 10 May 2016

Aubrey has yet to disappoint me with one of her books, but THIS one (For the One) just absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. I spent two days immersed in this crazy medieval role playing culture with a man with Aspergers and a Bosnian war refugee with commitment issues. I had no idea that I would be sucked into this world and completely fall for these characters like I did. Truly, that's the sign of a great author. My heart pounded and skipped a beat as William, who has no guile whatsoever, turns to Jenna and says "Yes. You are beautiful. You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."
And Jenna: He's said it with quiet intensity in a matter-of-fact tone as if stating that the sky is undeniably blue.
So Aubrey's prose is equally, undeniably and simply intense. "I turn and gaze into those beautiful blue eyes, no longer afraid of invading her soul."
Well, For the One invaded my soul, that's for sure. A simply true, heart-pounding, deliciously romantic story!
