Product Description

RE-EDITED VERSION

Life is a struggle…

In the ugly web of illness and pain, every breath I take is a fight to carry on and every doctor visit is another reason to give up.

Love is impossible…

With the bravery afforded me by the knowledge of my limited time, pride has lost its importance. A sensuous touch equals escape and surrender, but also sweet, precious agony.

One Night Only…

A single message is the only thing that matters. A single message that can alter his life forever and erase my pain.

One Night Only... we trade the pain to create a memory of a lifetime.

One Night Only is a stand-alone novella based on a true story.

I loved this novella, it left me speachless and in tears, have tissues close by. This was a well written short read, although tragic the plot and characters were very believable.

April is a college student, struck down with terminal cancer, she just wants to be a normal girl but normal is getting further from reach everyday. Aston in in her chemistry class and she is smitten with him from first sight although she does all she can to avoid him, until she is admitted to hospital and knows she doesn't have long left. She reaches out to Aston, to treat her like a normal girl, and he answers her call.

Reviewed for Amo and Sarah's Book Corner.

This was a lovely novella, so beautifully written that the emotions it evoked belied its brevity.
This wasn't easy for me to read as someone whose mortality is likewise central to my every thought and action thanks to cancer. But while my life has been turned on its head and potentially cut short in my 40s, April has missed out on the joys of youth because of the early onset of her disease. She is young and yet so mature, inexperienced and yet fully cognisant of the experiences she has missed out on. Knowing her tomorrows are limited stops her from enjoying today... Until she finally accepts that her time is nearly up, and she may lose the chance to share any of herself with the boy she has secretly fallen in love with.
One Night Only is tragic without being sappy, highlighting the one message I try to impress on my loved ones: life is too short to hold back your love, to resist a connection with someone who may well be the love off your life. Abby Gale reminds us to be brave and not let bitterness get in the way of whatever happiness we might have. A great little read, which segues nicely into One Special Love.

Make sure you have tissues near by and in your hand because you will need them, this story is FILLED with emotions I can't even begin to describe. It makes you think twice about life and how long we actually have because you truly don't know, you should live each day as if it's your last and just be happy. Beautifully written and the way Abby has written this story you feel as though you're right there, you're in the room experiencing it all yourself. This story will stay with you long after reading. I'm starting One Special Love next because I don't want to leave them, I want to more of their story and what happens after the fact. This is a MUST READ! This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a quick read that has one one of THE most powerful messages... 11 January 2017

You know those books that tug at your heartstrings?! Well this isn't one of those, this book snapped them! They were stretched to their max and just simply couldn't take any more and broke! I was a sobbing mess after reading this book, like we're talking ugly crying here! It took me longer to recover from the heartbreak than it did to read it.

This is a quick read that has one one of THE most powerful messages, live each day as if it were your last. I don't think I've ever been brought to tears so quickly while reading a book! There are so many emotions in this novella, and I will go to bed tonight appreciating the life I have just that much more. You're also reminded not to take anything for granted, as today is a gift and tomorrow isn't a promise. Life is just too damned short for it to be fully experienced.

I strongly recommend reading this novella and my only word of advice... tissue! Lots and lots of tissues!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Heart, soul, and tears...💖 29 March 2017

This novella has heart and soul, and tears...lots of tears. April has a very short time left and all she wants is one night with Ashton, the man she's crushed on for months. Finally building up her courage (and really, she has nothing to lose at this point!), she reaches out asking for one last, perfect night with the man of her dreams.
Ash has watched her for weeks, and jumps on the chance to fulfill both their fantasies, not knowing that one night is all they'll truly ever have.
This short prequel is a must read to introduce the characters in "One Special Love", but it stands on its own as a wonderful tale of first and last chances.
5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful must-read story 30 September 2016
By Miss Betty - Published on Amazon.com

Ohh this book, it made me cry.

It is a beautiful but very sad story. It will wrap itself around your heart like a warm hand, and it will keep your heart warm for a very long time.

Ms. Gale is a very gifted writer, who understands how words can make a difference. Every well-written word from her makes her books worth reading.
Even though this is a sad story, with an ending, that’s unavoidable it truly is a page-turner, and I flipped the pages as fast as my eyes would let me. Come to think of it, I haven’t figured out just yet, how she did that? How she made me, while I was crying, turn one page after the other.

I think this book shows us what to expect from Abby Gale in the future. An author who we can count on always to deliver a brilliant story accompanied by some very beautiful words.

Prince's undying words come to mind "This is what it sounds like when doves cry!" and I'm sure he ment "Beyond [the doves] sorrowful song is a message of life, hope, renewal and peace,"

I received an ARC, from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
4.0 out of 5 stars One Night Only 6 March 2017

One Night Only is a short little novella, about April and Ashton. April is dying and wants just one night with Ashton. What follows is a sweet, heartbreaking story of just One Night.

This was my first Abby Gale book, but definitely won't be my last. She truly captured my attention with the characters.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully heart rending! 6 April 2017

Greatest short story I have ever read! It made me feel so much in just a few short pages. This story is the perfext example why you shouldn't keep your feelings hidden. The biggest risks have the biggest payoffs. April and Colton are great characters and the story was heart rending. I was not expecting what this book did to me, it was a pleasant surprise.
