Product Description

Forbes Branson was a young man ready for something new. A senior in high school, he was the golden boy. Heir to a fortune, he knew what his life was going to be. But he wanted adventure first. A year of freedom before college to do and go where he wanted. However, an unexpected betrayal would change everything.

Sophie Lipton was fifteen the first time she set foot on the Branson ranch. Dragged from one place to another, never having more than one pair of shoes or enough to eat, the moment she saw the wide open spaces, she felt she could breathe for the first time in her life. It was the home she always dreamed of. But her happiness came at a price.

To stay in her new home, Sophie had to keep somebody else's lies. Lies that would eventually tear apart a family. And tear apart her friendship with Forbes.

Coming home is never easy—especially after twelve years. Forbes isn't the same young man. He found his adventure—and more. Weary, he's ready to settle into a slower, calmer life. Working on his family's ranch and taking the job as Chief of Police sounds like a piece of cake after the things he had seen and done.

Sophie isn't the quiet girl Forbes remembers. She's grown into a strong, confident woman. A woman used to being in charge. The Branson ranch is her territory now. If Forbes thinks he's going to waltz back in and take over, he's going to find out fast that Sophie is no pushover.

Twelve years ago, they shared one goodbye kiss. More sweet than passionate. Now, as adults it's a whole new game. The attraction between them is undeniable. Just as they begin to move forward, the past has other ideas.

Secrets rarely stay buried forever. Lies. Betrayal. Maybe even murder. Before Forbes and Sophie can think about the future, they will need to deal with the past. Together.

5.0 out of 5 stars captivating doesn't begin to describe how you will be glued to the story! 24 March 2017

I'm honestly floored with the attention to details in this book. From the first few sentences I was hooked. It was 4 hours before I came up for air and I still wasn't finished reading this book. Mary J Williams is a master story teller, revealing each segment like a blossoming peony, opening fulling showing each and every petal. Each and every character was fleshed out and the background was well thought and written. Ms Williams took me on an emotional journey, one where I laughed at times and other when I had tears silently running down my cheeks. Many parts in this book had me choked up, especially the pain that Sophie was hiding from everyone. The amount of detail that Ms. Williams put into describing the land, the people and most of all the growing feelings that Sophie and Forbes had for one another. Even the secondary characters are well written and thoroughly developed.
The mystery and intrigue in this story is enough to get your pulse racing. If you want to read something that will have you up until the wee hours of the morning, let this be your book! It's too bad that this book can receive a 5 star rating as it deserves so much more. I may have received this as an ARC, but I enjoyed it so much that I bought the book! I also have plans of having it on my shelves in paperback!
Buy it, Read it, Review it and tell all of your friends to buy it too!
4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of detail 9 April 2017

I really enjoyed the attention to detail the author used getting us into the story. We saw the despair the Sophie endures while wandering the country with her grifter mother, Joy. Not allowed to attend school, but a voracious and self-taught 15-year-old, you feel the hope in her heart, when Newt decides to take Joy home with her ‘sister’ Sophie.

On the ranch, Sophie meets Newt’s son Forbes and they all become a somewhat dysfunctional family. Joy continues her conniving ways, and eventually the wheels come off the crazy car. First, she comes between Newt and Forbes, forcing Forbes to leave home, and then Newt and many of the community members are scandalized when Joy leaves with her new love. We don’t learn about all the details until further in the book.

Twelve years elapse, and Forbes comes home as the new police chief, after having served in the Army and had a ‘black ops’ type of civilian job. Sophie stayed when her mother left and rescued the ranch when Newt would have let it go. Problems arise on the ranch and this throws Forbes and Sophie together, finally realizing their connection.

I enjoyed the book, but it was almost two completely different books. The first about Joy, Sophie, Newt, and Forbes, then the second about Sophie and Forbes and the problems at the ranch. The twist at the end was good, but not surprising.

I’ve read Ms. Williams before and will continue to read her work.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Must Read!!! 29 March 2017

With One More Look At You is ... WOW!
Sophie is pushed all her life by her lewd mother Joy and is forced to deny herself, only to not be abandoned by her mother. When her mother finally hits the jackpot and moves to the ranch of her future husband, Newton, Sophie meets his son Forbes. Immediately there is a connection between the two and Sophie finally finds someone to see behind her mask, at least in parts ...
She is further compelled to guard her imposed secrets, something that tears her inwardly.
It is not until it is too late, that she finds the courage to trust Forbes. However, he does not believe her and leaves shortly afterwards his home to find himself ...
12 years later, Forbes returns home, more mature, calmer ... and meets Sophie, who has changed a lot, too. The connection between them, however, still exists and there is a crackling tension ...
This book moved me to tears half the time, the other half I spent with giggles and laughter.
Mary J. Williams really knows how to make her characters believable and full of life, down to the smallest detail!
An absolute MUST READ!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written and captivating!! 31 March 2017

Great story. It's always hard to read about abusive moms because really? aren't moms supposed to love and protect their daughters? Sophie lives a torturous life with her mother, Joy who is verbally abusive. Men are the priority in her mother’s book. I really liked Sophie because she was a strong girl even at 15, in spite of the mother she has, or maybe in spite of her. They end up in Newt’s farm where Sophie meets Forbes, Newt’s son. They form a friendship that leads to more. There are twists and turns, painful secrets and obstacles that tear them apart for years. Forbes comes back 12 years later to a very changed Sophie. What will happen when they meet again?

The author is truly talented in the way she transports the reader into the story, building up the events to a point where you’re wrapped up in every word. It is that well written and captivating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twists and turns..and surprises 24 March 2017

Mary J. Williams is relatively a new author to me..but I think she's putting herself on my favorite to read list very quickly with the quality of her creativity and delivery of her stories. Both of her lead characters Sophie and Forbes have had losses in their past lives prior to meeting. Forbes lost his loving mom. Sophie lost the chances to be a real kid with a normal life.. The form a friendship and that seems to be gone too. At 18 Forbes leaves home..At 15 Sophie has lost a friend she counted on when he left.. 12 years later Forbes returns.. what does it mean for them? Will life change again?.. Will their lost friendship return? Will life ever return to normal and each of them find their happy ever after? Alone or Together? Sorry I don't give spoilers..YOU'LL have to read to find out.. curiosity killed the cat..but satisfaction of reading this book will bring it back...
