Product Description

When Nox was fourteen, his brother Joth murdered their older brother, their mother, and a human girl. Nox survived, but the attack wrecked his womb. Shattered, Nox rejected the pack who fumbled helping a barren, grief-stricken omega cope. He built a new purpose for himself as a master craftsman. Mating? No thanks. He’s better off alone.

Humans studied Joth in prison until his father’s death ended the weekly visits. Joth demands Nox in their father’s stead in exchange for resuming therapy and tests… thereby risking the destruction of Nox’s carefully ordered world. Again.

The pack drafts alpha fixer Dio to untangle the mess. One sniff of the wary omega convinces him Nox is his mate. New medical treatments offer a slim possibility Nox could bear children, but if the past years taught shifters anything, it is an omega’s value is greater than his fertility. Reconciling Nox with his pack is more important. Laying to rest the ghosts haunting Nox is too. Learning to trust? Vital.

Dio just needs to coax Nox into one last try.

Content Warning: Omega mpreg and fertility themes, dubious consent, shifter knotting, an omega who rejects labels, and a bewildered alpha who wouldn’t have it any other way

One of my favourites in the genre.
Intensely emotional as well as sexy and a satisfying HEA. Everything I want from a romance - MM or otherwise.
So well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intensely packed 25 February 2017

I don't know how Kari Gregg does it, but she manages to build complex characters with such feeling. Even though the book is only a 150 pages, it feel much longer because she doesn't waste a single word, each word is carefully crafted to convey the emotion of the moment. I also appreciate the uniqueness and the challenge to the alpha/omega stereotypes. Highly recommended.

I really really enjoyed this book, to a point. What's with the ending? I mean really. I loved the descriptions, the sex was good, the Joth storyline was excellent, the love Nox and Dio were building was sweet, but then what do we get? A small chapter of a small percentage of Nox's thoughts... I say 'what the'.... I wanted more, this book could of been epic...

5.0 out of 5 stars As usual her protagonist finds the way back through healing love and in One Last Try 19 March 2017

Vintage Kari Gregg, that keeps me coming back for more. Besides, add to any book Mpreg, and I'm there. The story line was captivating although it speaks to a back story of family violence borne out of mental illness--of the character's wolf. As usual her protagonist finds the way back through healing love and in One Last Try, tentative forgiveness. It's easy to give spoilers so I will say hold on to your seats, it's not what one would expect. Great read.
3.0 out of 5 stars It was...okay 5 June 2017

Good plot but seemed to really go nowhere by the end of it but it was okay....I promised my self I would never read another book from Kari Gregg again after reading I omega because it was the first book of hers I had ever read and(imo) it was absolutely terrible! But the blurb for this book sounded pretty good so I took a chance to read it. Although it was not a bad book it was not a great book and because of my very sour experience with previous books I don't think I'll be reading anymore from this author in the future but I will say this was not a waste of money or time it took to read it .

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written 28 February 2017

One thing I've noticed about the two books written by Kari Gregg: she doesn't like a lot of talking between Alpha and Omega. However, she has literally taken her couple to psychologist to get them to open up.
The improvement is just amazing.
I can't help but compare this to Stray, as it's the only other book I've read by her. This is just beautifully done. This is very deep and the warnings are there in the blurb. As it's all told from Nox's point of view, Dio's 'courtship' is rather sudden. Nox doesn't realize that Dio has been waiting for as long as he had been, therefore, we don't.
I don't want to give a lot of the plot away, but I really enjoyed how different it was. How it celebrated not being the norm. It didn't demonize anyone other than the murderous brother (even he gets a dose of humanity), and though the thought process that Nox goes through can get repetitive, it isn't so much that it kills the plot.
There is so much more dialogue in this book, too! I LOVE that! Characters talk!
If you're ready for an emotional rollercoaster, pick this book up. The HEA is lovely and sends a positive message about actually talking to your partner and that, perhaps, your desires may line up more than you think.
