You will read the first page and be just as entrapped to find out what happens to Morgan and Reid as they face what to anyone else would be a traumatic event. But to come across two pathetic Detectives who have no idea how to read a victim and continue to treat Reid as a Suspect in the disappearance of his dancer wife. A cliffhanger,,, just waiting for a resolution... will it come...
I did enjoy this novella. It was a quick read and I could feel Reid's pain as he realised his wife wasn't coming home. But was I enthralled enough to buy the next 4 installments to finish the novel? Probably not, I would prefer just to pay for the one book.
After being away from work for so long and returning sometimes Morgan often gets caught up at work. Wanting her marriage to return to the way it was Morgan decided to make a conscious effort, to get home early. Reid misses what he had with Morgan and some doubt comes in as to whether she may be having an affair. Everything changes in the blink of an eye, on the way home from work with getting a flat tire, Morgan wakes up to being bound in the boot of a car, the voice of the man sounds familiar, but she can’t be sure. All Morgan knows is he calls her Red and himself the Wolf, he has left her with a back pack containing items that she will need and that there are five tasks. After thinking she may be smart enough to outsmart the Wolf he finds her and tells her to run. Reid at first is angry that Morgan again hasn’t made it home for dinner, he even begins to wonder if she may be somewhere else, as time goes on, he tries calling her mobile with no answer so calls the cops, when they seem to do nothing he decides to look for her car. Finding the car, and not long after the police turn up. Suddenly Reid finds himself in the police station being questioned while his wife is missing. Ends in a cliff hanger – can’t wait to seewhathappens with Red and the Wolf.
Omg Belle Brooks has left me speachless with this book. It is the first book I'm the game of Life series and be forewarned there is no doubt this has a cliffhanger. I could not put it down and had to keep reading to find out what would happen to Morgan and if her husband Reid would find her safe. I would definitely classify this as a suspense thriller because that is exactly what she has created with every page. I was a quick read because I couldn't wait to seewhat would happen next. If you don't like suspense and cliffhangers this is not the book for you but if you don't have a problem with those things this book is a must read right now. Belle Brooks has created a masterpiece with her words making you feel as if you are in part of this game she has created.
One Fear by Belle Brooks is the first heart pounding suspense/ thriller from the Game of Life series that sucked me in from the very first page. The book is written in a dual perspective which I really enjoyed, There is the perspective of Morgan the main character as well as Reid, her husband. All I can say is, wow! I really can't wait for the next book to come out. This has left me hanging by one finger from that proverbial cliff. The story starts off with a bang then back tracks to tell you how they got to where they are now. When I opened this up I didn't know what to expect since Belle is a new author to me but now I know that I will have to pick up all her other books while I wait impatiently for the next in this series. The writing was fantastic, I have never read a book from an Australian writer before so it was fun reading words that I don't hear normally. I recommend this book to readers who like suspense, thriller, or crime books.
Little Red Riding Hood meets Saw. Holy s*** talk about some goosebumps while reading One Fear. Ever watch the movie Saw? Yeah that's what comes to my mind while I read. I was captivated from the beginning and devoured this book. Belle had me on the edge of my seat and left me hanging! Lol... I can't wait to seewhathappens next with Red and The Wolf.
If you like/love/enjoy reading dark stories then you'll want to read One Fear.
This was an interesting read. I really enjoyed the suspense behind it, and I found the first half of the book to go by really fast. It did seem to slow down quite a bit in the second half, as both main characters spent more time talking to themselves about what was going on and what they should do/should have done than any action that was taking place. I look forward to reading more of this series to seewhathappens next.
