From New York Times bestseller, Pepper Winters, comes a new Dark Romance Series, Goddess Isles.
For those who loved Monsters in the Dark, Indebted, and Dollar Series, you'll LOVE this one!
“There was a boy once. A boy who wasn’t strong enough to save me when I was taken.”
There was a girl once. A girl called Tess Snow who sat with me in the dark, waiting to be sold.
There was an owner once. An owner who bought me, entrapped me, and made me his unwilling goddess.”
Eleanor Grace is a naïve dreamer. Trusting and young, she believes her travel-loving boyfriend can save her when her freedom is snatched and sold. Squirrelled away to an island at dawn, delivered to a man even darkness won’t touch, she’s bound by a contract.
Sullivan Sinclair is the giver of fantasies. Any wish, any desire—he is the master at quenching any appetite. His private paradise and perfectly trained goddesses are there for one purpose: to ensure every guest is extremely well satisfied.
He bought her.
He trapped her.
She belongs to him.

That said, there are still element of this story that I found confronting at times.
Eleanor Grace is abducted from a backpackers hostel while travelling with her boyfriend Scott.
The first chapter begins with her initial realisation of the predicament she is in.
A filthy dungeon, with other women of different nationalities, all being trafficked.
We are lead step-by-step through Elenor’s debasement at the hands of her kidnappers until she is finally sold to her new master.
The mysterious enigma. The mysterious Sullivan (Sully Sinclair.
Sullivan introduces Eleanor to his fantasy island where wealthy businessmen pay 100’s of thousands of dollars to spent a night with one of his goddesses.
Where clients can indulge in their sexual desires with the help of Euphoria, (a drug Sullivan concocted), and VR, so both client, and goddess can be participants in an extra sensory sexual experience.
Eleanor is forced to participate completely against her will. Her first taste of euphoria, was forced on her and she found herself conflicted (and extremely horny) Fighting her mind and morals over her bodily desires..
Then, we have the other moral conflict,...her hate, then was lustful attracted to her captor, owner, tormentor, Mr Sullivan Sinclair.
Eleanor begins her journey being defiant (and at time down right mouthy) only to end up worse off for her actions. She just can’t stop talking!
She hates him, she can’t stop fighting with him, then she goes into full on Stockholm syndrome mode, and can’t stop thinking about him...ALL THE TIME!
There are six books in the ‘Goddess Isles’ series and I would hope Eleanor stops navel gazing over Sullivan’s beautiful face and body, and starts thinking about all the other girls who were trafficked with her.
Do something to redeem what happen to her and the other girls.
Bringing down the whole god awful business. I hope this doesn’t end how I feel it might, with a Eleanor & Sully & a HEA
Three stars
I hate cliffhangers so i had to wait for the series but it's all good now. These are looking books with complex characters and a storyline that gets more intriguing by the minute.
I've noticed a lot of negative reviews because of Sully and what goes down on his island. What the heck do readers expect, hello Pepper Winters is renowned for this type of dark content... find another genre if you can't handle it!!!
I've read the first 4 books in this series and am once again blown away by this authors ability to capture her audience!
Give it a go, you won't be disappointed 😍
This author is a creative genius. The detail and imagination in the stories she weaves never fails to astound me.
Once A Myth is no different. She reeled me in hook, line and sinker from the very start and even after I finished I'm still dangling on that hook.
By the time Eleanor Grace reaches the shores of the Goddess Isles she is a torpedo waiting to find it's target. She held her counsel with those who stole her, but there is just something about Sullivan Sinclair that pushes the detonate button for her.
She is way more than Sullivan "Sully" Sinclair imagined when he made his wish list for his latest Goddess. In looks she is the epitome of the perfect woman. That is til she opens her mouth. She's sassy to a fault, gives as good as she gets and gets under his skin without even trying.
These 2 awesome characters put me in mind of a volcano, slowly rumbling away but you can just see the eruption is going to happen and when it does those close by better run for cover. The mutual attraction and sexual tension will melt your kindle and leave you needing an ice bath.
We know this is just the start of the series so of course as this author loves to do she will leave you dangling over the Grand Canyon by your fingernails at the end, but we will all wait with baited breath for the answers the that WTF moment. Bring on book 2, I'm so ready.
This book is perfect for those who like their hero’s dark and their lust strong, not for the faint of heart or those seeking a rainbows and unicorns romance.
Sully is going to be a beautiful ,brilliant & heartbreakingly kind of screwed up deliciousness...feel in it my waters.
And oh boy was it good!

It's basically a story of human trafficking, sex slavery and non consensual sex, no matter how much you pretty it up by being on a tropical island, and with the main male character being gorgeous.
It definitely disturbed me, so much so that I didn't sleep the night after I read it.
However, I will read the next one, as I truly hope that Eleanor survives Euphoria, and brings down Sully, and all the men that go there to pay for their sexual encounters.

I think I may be in the minority when I say I wasn’t really a fan.
It’s not so much this was a bad book or even led me to get annoyed or anything like that. And I think that’s the problem. I didn’t really have any strong feelings towards a lot of this book. To be quite honest, I spent around 90% of this book really, really bored. So lemme break it down…
Too much introspection. It got to the point where there was so little dialogue between the characters, whole chapters went by with no talking. This made the whole book drag because I was like there’s so much of the characters monologuing in their own heads and it didn’t really endear me to either of them.
I didn’t like Eleanor. I don’t really have a reason as to why, I just never clicked with her. Perhaps it was all the inner monologue which just began to grate on me, but I could not relate.
I didn’t like Sully. His character was so… wishy-washy. The only time I actually found anything I liked was his relationship with his bird, Pika. Otherwise, I just found him a bit… meh. I usually love Pepper’s heroes so this was a huge disappointment to me.
The sheer amount of ridiculous metaphors made me roll my eyes, repeatedly. Don’t get me wrong, I usually love Pepper’s writing, but the imagery in this book was so over the top at times, I just couldn’t get past it.
The in your face posturing over vegetarianism just annoyed me. It became preachy and I hate preachy. This is coming from a person who is actually a vegetarian (most of the time) and doesn’t agree with the mass farming of animals. I didn’t really like how this was thrown in our faces all the time like they were on some moral high-ground because they didn’t eat meat. I’m sorry, but just no.
I didn’t feel the chemistry or relationship between Sully and Eleanor. Perhaps I would’ve felt differently if I actually liked them, but instead of being able to see the attraction between them, it just left me feeling very little at all.
The only real part about this book I liked was a couple scenes towards the end, but those were not enough to redeem this book for me. It just fell flat on all counts and so I likely won’t be continuing with the series even though it ended on a cliffhanger. That wasn’t enough to make me want to dive into the next one.

Eleanor is ripped away from the life that she knew, she’s brave and defiant from the first step but she’s slowly tired and frustrated. I like her inner badass but at the same time I want her to give in to the reality of what will happen. She’s scared yet brave and tired yet strong. She is a very good match for Sullivan but will she win? The ending of this book when she prepares for Euphoria is intense, and the last line just kept me wanting more.
I have to say I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this book. I didn’t know how dark Pepper could go after the indebted series but she surpassed my expectations so much when I was reading this story. I got the same feelings I did when I was reading the indebted series and that is how I know this series is going to be my new favourite addiction.
I need the next book like now, but with 4 more books to come, I’m very intrigued as to where this story is going. I just know I’m here waiting not so patiently for it. Roll on Twice A Wish!
