It is very tough standing at the bottom of the mountain looking up knowing that your path crosses it. That in many ways is what this book is about and that is why it is not perhaps for everyone.
There is little doubt that life if full of obstacles and that overcoming these makes you a better person but the journey to overcome them is challenging and none more so unless you have the determination to tackle with these with resolve.
This book is certainly inspiring and challenging in the path that it points you along, however don't be fooled that it is an easy path. Yet, take solace in the fact that it is a path that a great many embark on but few complete. The book is easy to read and quite enjoyable and does challenge you to do better by demonstrating how others have got on with what needs doing and when they reflect back the challenges don't seem quite so great.
This book is for those who are committed on a path of self improvement and appreciate the fact that they live in an imperfect world, much of which is beyond their control. It should inspire you and show you that this path is the one worth taking although it may not appear that way at the outset.
Leading a good life is more about a philosophy than any secret formula. This book demonstrates that it is possible and that the challenge is to embrace the obstacles and see them as integral to being alive. That however is no easy process but possible as many others throughout history can attest to.
I read this book in one go on the plane from Los Angeles to Brisbane. I really loved it. Well researched and written with lot of inspiring stories. As entrepreneurs and business people, we all face a lot of challenges and obstacles every day and developing our thinking about how we approach them is essential. This is the best book I've read about this topic specifically and I certainly highly recommend reading it to everyone, regardless if you are business or not.
When feeling battered and bruised and very weary, the reading of this book has revived, renewed and revitalised me. What stands in the way becomes the way. By changing the focus of the lens through which I was viewing my life, the obstacles that I was constantly turning away from, seem less formidable.
I have read it once, and plan on reading it at least a couple more times. It is quite short, but has a lot of hidden depth to it. Since reading it a couple of months ago, I have found it has really changed the way that I think about the world and my situation. It could really be twice as long and offer more concrete examples, but still, it is a great book and well worth reading.
I read this book with an open mind, and it really has changed me for the better. It’s given me a different way to see and frame things, a more positive attitude, and most importantly a better way to respond.
Awesome book. Draws on Stoic philosophy and real life examples from a number of inspiring people who have pushed through adversity and accomplished great things. This is recommended reading for anyone that is going through some challenging times. It will help you reframe your challenges and not only battle through them, but be better for it.
