Product Description

The New York Times bestselling author of Wallbanger and Rusty Nailed is back with Nuts, the first in a brand new series set in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley.

Roxie Callahan is a private chef to some of Hollywood’s wealthiest, and nastiest, calorie-counting wives. After a dairy disaster implodes her carefully crafted career in one fell ploop, she finds herself back home in upstate New York, bailing out her hippie mother and running the family diner.

When gorgeous local farmer Leo Maxwell delivers her a lovely bunch of organic walnuts, Roxie wonders if a summer back home isn’t such a bad idea after all. Leo is heavily involved in the sustainable slow food movement, and he likes to take his time. In all things. Roxie is determined to head back to the west coast as soon as summer ends, but will the pull of lazy fireflies and her very own Almanzo Wilder be enough to keep her home for good?

Salty. Spicy. Sweet. Nuts. Go on, grab a handful.

Thank-you Aice Clayton for your Incredible gift - not only are you a great writer but you balance intense romance with reality and fun! NUTS is all of that and more it is absolutely hilarious and so romantic. This had the added dimension of being set in the incredible Hudson Valley with mouth watering produce and incredible recipes (I so wish they were included in the book) as the backdrop.
Roxie is a professional chef and currently working as a personal chef to Los Angeles's rich and famous when we meet her. A small mistake leads to Roxie being fired and within hours and all of her clients abandon her. Much to Roxie’s disappointment, it’s really perfect timing though because her mother needs her to come home and run the family diner (which she always swore she'd never run!) so she can go on The Amazing Race.
Roxie doesn’t do love, she does do hook ups, but she isn’t looking for more. She has shaken the shy, introverted, small town Roxie she used to be and now is confident, culinary genious California Roxie and nothing is going to hurtle her back to her insecure days.
Leo Maxwell is a farmer, but not just any farmer, he operates one of the oldest farms in the area the Maxwell Farm. The farm has been in his family for generations, but it was Leo who got it up and running and made it the success it is today. Leo is known for being handsome, charismatic and charming, but completely untouchable. His green eyes sound divine!
Roxie and Leo meet in a hilariously embarrassing "banging together" slap stick comedy moment filled with plenty of sexual innuendo as he was delivering "nuts" and from there develop a flirtation. When they both realise neither is looking for more they decide to hangout/hookup for the summer.

This is sweet funny and a little bit sexy.
It's realistic, with a touch of romantic fantasy.
It's about how she discovers who she is, and how that does or doesn't fit in to small town life.
I am defiantly going to be reading this one again.

4 nuts from me!

Oh Clayton can write no wrong in my world! She even included the characters from my favourite series of hers, The Redhead series.

This book had me laughing out loud several times, sighing in contentment and cheering on all of the characters. Everyone loves a character that’s down on their luck. Roxie has to work through the humiliation of losing her job as a personal chef to the thin and hungry in California but she has to deal with going home and working in her mum’s café.

I think readers will enjoy this book but in saying that, I did feel that some of the storyline got bogged down in the details. Reading some of the farming bits, killed the buzz (no pun intended) for me.

Roxie is a gorgeous character. She’s flawed, she’s honest, she’s hilarious and I really enjoyed her story. Matched with the equally gorgeous Leo. This book will lead to a whole wave of farmer fantasies. Clayton is the Amy Schumer of the written world. Comedic timing – check and original laughable material – check!

I don’t want to give too much away other than, you have to read this for yourself. I don’t think it will disappoint.

I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion but I will be buying it for my collection.

Nuts is a funny romantic comedy, Alice Clayton will keep you spellbound with her sass, wit, humor and sexiness. Her feisty heroine and her gorgeous, sweet charming hero will will leave you laughing out loud.

Roxie is a former small town girl now living in LA. She's a chef to the stars and she is loving her job and life in the city. When her mum calls her asking for help to run the family diner for the summer, it's the last thing she wants to do but she agrees. As soon as her mother is back she is out of there. Back in the diner she's finding her feet and falling...Not once but twice she has collided and fallen with a gorgeous man, a man she could have some summer fun with!

“I practically went down on you in public. Now that was risky.”

Leo is a farmer, he's smart, SEXY and the town bachelor. He is passionate about his work on the farm and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Leo has captured Roxie’s interest from their first collision over nuts. Her sass is refreshing and he is just as feisty as she is.

The attraction and chemistry between the two is instant, no point in beating around the bush when Roxie is only here for the summer. Sparks fly when Roxie and Leo come together, their chemistry is off the charts.

“He kissed me hot, my thighs parted...more...And he kissed me wet.
And he kissed me...slow. Agonisingly, maddeningly, painfully slow.”

Their attraction for one another starts to become something more, scaring Roxie who doesn't do more. Her plan to help her mum out, have a little fun and go back to LA is clouded now that ideas are forming and her eyes have been opened to the town she grew up in. There are quite a few possibilities here for Roxie. Can she take the risk to the changes and possibilities laid out or will she head back to LA like she's planed?

This is a fun book with loads of moments that will make you laugh and smile.
