I had high hopes for this book, as our daughter absolutely loves the other two books in the Story Orchestra series (which feature Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty), but I was disappointed in this one.
The illustrations are beautiful, but they are less complex and engaging than the illustrations in the other two books in the series. But my biggest complaint is the music.
First, the buttons are WAY too difficult to press. I have to push down with pretty significant force to get the music to play, and there is no way my daughter can do it. The buttons are located in the back cover, so the first few pages are particularly difficult because you have to push through 9-10 pages to activate the sound.
Second, the music excerpts are VERY short -- sometimes just 5 seconds or so. I realize the intent isn't for children to listen to entire movements of the ballet, but come on... 5 seconds is a tease. I know the clips could be longer because there are plenty of similar books out there with excerpts that are 10-15 seconds (for example, the "Poppy" series).
My daughter still enjoys this book, but I confess that I was very disappointed, especially after we enjoyed the first two books in the series so much.
