5.0 out of 5 stars "NORTHERN BITES ~ Excellent Second in Series" 24 May 2015
By Teresa - Published on Amazon.com

NORTHERN BITES is the terrific second volume of AURORA SKY, VAMPIRE HUNTER. Several things happen in this second book but everything is so well put together it makes it especially good. Aurora, as we know from book one had been saved from dying by a government agency but has to work for them as a vampire hunter. She learns that there are others she knows who are also in the program but they’re not especially friends. She has a thing for a guy named Fane who’s a vampire but he’s the exception. He really screws up though. Dante is the guy whose her handler or partner so to speak and he’s the one her mother really likes. He’s definitely a huge flirt and there’s some mature but tasteful content. And speaking of mom, Aurora’s parents are thinking of divorcing which is bothersome for her. She’s worried about her mom which humanizes her even more as the lead character.

Aurora tries to maintain a normal life at home and school but some things can’t be avoided. She had learned that a few other girls at school, Noel and Valerie who weren’t her friends, were also saved by the Agency and are vampire hunters as well. She meets a guy she likes named Mike who also likes her. He followed her to a party she was invited to and had an encounter with a vampire. The next day the girls get called out of class on an assignment and she learns that he’d been killed. She also learns she has to go to northern Alaska with Jared and Valerie, who has an attitude and whom she’s fought with.

With Aurora and Valerie thrown together on a job and having to share a hotel room, Valerie opens up and they become closer as friends. Aurora also learns that Jared is infected and is a vampire but his case is classified. Jared has a long interesting history which makes him a great character. Aurora is going to become a mentor in the program and is being sent to a new location before she goes to college which is what she really wants. This is a great series and I really enjoyed volume two. It opens the characters up more and leaves room for more in the series. It has everything going for it including a suspenseful ending with Marcus and Jared. I look forward to more in the series. Great work by NIKKI JEFFORD.

EM ELDRIDGE is absolutely perfect as Aurora Sky. I love her character and Em really embodies who she is. She has a great voice with the right voice inflections plus a little sass. I always knew which character was speaking and she kept the story moving at a good pace with good tone. I’m really looking forward to volume three. Fantastic job by both author and narrator.
5.0 out of 5 stars The Aurora Sky series is highly addictive and keeps getting better! 24 May 2015

I won't give a synopsis because there is one listed above I'll just jump into the awesomeness that is this series. Aurora Sky series has become a one-click purchase for me. I didn't think it could get better than the first one, boy was i wrong. This book was more suspenseful, dramatic, and intense than the first one. I spent the majority of my time on the edge of my seat. I finished this book in less than 24 hours. It was that difficult to put down. This is a series and must be read in order; so if you have yet to read book 1 first it is a must. If you haven't picked this series up I highly recommend it. It is an action packed adventure that will keep you coming back for more! Oh and a couple possible love interests that had me drooling and unable to choose between.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nikki Jefford will one day be listed along side Stephen King and Ann Rice, she will be one of the literary giants. 16 May 2015

What do YOU want? It is here? Vampires? Vampire Hunters? Sensuality, romance, exotic and unusual locations. Sinfully deep and truly delicious characters that are so unerringly human, you forget they are INHUMAN. Characters with so very much life in them that you forget they are the undead? Bloodsuckers so flawed and "mortal" that you forget they are immortal? Oh, what a tangled web Nikki Jefford weaves, she creates such reality, that you forget it is an illusion; the true mark of a master of their craft.
I have become a tremendous fan, Miss Jefford joins the ranks of great epic novelists like Dana Fuller Ross of the Wagons West! series and Dana Clayton Porter of the White Indian series.
She creates a unique breed of vampire that I find appealing and as an author myself, [author: J.L. Day http://darkquill.jlday.net I have never really discovered written or cinematic vampire characters to my liking, other than my own. Miss Jefford, however; has managed to completely entice and captivate my attention and I have found myself smitten with her characters and this entire series.
I breathlessly anticipate her next release and cannot WAIT to see what her next offering is after she finishes the Aurora Sky series. I am thinking that as much as I have enjoyed my tryst with this series, I should go back to Amazon and purchase her Spellbound trilogy. I really am enchanted with this author and have great hopes that we finally have another Great One to add to the ranks, it has been too long since we had someone that was truly synonymous with the genre.
The author delivers on every plane, gets your heart pumping for a plethora of reasons and makes you feel what the characters are experiencing in ways that leave you sweating
5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Hotness!!! 21 February 2015

Aurora has to team up with Valerie (Evil Red) on a mission, which she is not to thrilled about, since she was the cause of her and Fane's break up. And Dante and Noel team up together, is what Agent Melcher tells them.

There are some ups and downs in this book. And Jared comes back into the book, he has a few secrets of his own. I don't know what it is, but I'm a sucker for bad boy type characters. I like Jared, for for a little bit, then don't then back to liking him again.

Dante Dante Dante, what to say about him.. OMGosh. I love Dante, in a fictional character kind of way. He stars in Aurora's dream, and OMG. To bad I didn't get to read about it..Lol But you get to read about just before, and who else stars in her dream.

Fane, well he's Fane. Jerk at times and a sweet heart at other times.

Valerie, well she's Valerie, and a badass chick, she has problems, but who doesn't.

Noel, the sweet girl you meet in book one. Is still sweet until the end.. Back stabbing...you can fill in the blank. She kind of stops talking to Aurora, why I don't exactly know, I guess we'll find out in the next book.

Back to Aurora and Dante, they are great. Do they get closer as in a couple kind of way or do they stay as just friends who work together. You are just going to have to read the book to find out.

All in all, I liked the book and gave it a five star. Well written, for me it played out like a movie, which I absolutely love about a book, if I can read it, and it does that. Then the author has me as a reader as long as they keep writing.
4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting dynamics... better than book one 31 August 2016

There are interesting kinetics at work in this book. Unlike the first book in the series, this book is jam packed a lot of action, and a rather complex relationship dynamics involving several different characters.

Jeffords does a better job of story development in this book. The plot is deep, steady, and a study in contrasts. The dangers are greater, and there is a natural flow.

There are new characters who help with the centuries old backstory. Existing characters are further developed, though not as much as I would have liked. The complex character relationships are well-written, never crossing the line into confusion.

I like this book. I think it is better than book one. 4 stars
