This phone takes a very small sim, so you will not be able to transfer data from an older sim (mine was 5 years old) but that is the only drawback, apart from its size, and I find the size awkward because I have small hands. However when I picked up a phone from another company it weighed much more!, so like many things, its all relative.
Getting started is a breeze once the phone is charged up. After deciding on a pin number, you are given the choice of inserting your sim, or using your home wifi to go online. I recommend the latter as there is a bit of updating to do, and in my case its quicker and cheaper to do it that way. There is all the usual "sign up here, log-in there" procedure to go through, and deleting what you don't want You can also skip this if you want to get down to the nitty gritty, and come back to it later.
Inserting the sim is simple. I have low vision so had help, but it took less than a minute and the phone was up and running. The keypad is easy to use and even I could make out the querty arrangement. Entering data was easier than using my 10 inch tablet, much to my surprise!
So my first impressions are are positive, and there are not so many bells and whistles that I feel overwhelmed at the thought of cleaning out the "garbage" as I remove anything I do not need, like instant connection to Face book, and automatic log-in to Google, etc. Your mileage here will be different to mine.
So far I am happy with my purchase. The camera is better than the one on my last phone, it is longer than I expected, which gives me an excuse to go shopping for a phone case (yayy!) and it weighs less than my last phone which was no house brick. It makes phone calls, takes photos and I can add a micro card to expand its storage capacity, so it will double as an MP3 player and multi-media centre if I want.
Good value for money and not too complicated that I would give up on it before I ever got it going. If something simple is what you need, this phone should be on your list!
