Product Description

Book 3 in the Hard Rock Harlots series

NOCTURNES contains 511 F-bombs, 81 well-endowed male chickens, 65 girl kitties, 58 Richard the Lessers, 10 C-U-Next-Tuesdays, and a plethora of other colorful words and phrases that would deafen your virginal mother’s ears and make her bust out her “Shame on you!” finger. If you’ve been tuned in since the beginning of the Hard Rock Harlots series, you know the drill. The sex is extreme, the language is graphic, and the story is over the top. Prudes and under 18s need not apply.

WARNING: NOCTURNES addresses serious topics such as alcoholism, prostitution, and cheating. If you’re looking for a barrel of laughs or sunshine and rainbows, this is NOT the book for you.

Rax Wrathbone is the dirty rock star you love to hate. The filthy fantasy slithering through your bed sheets. The serpent in your lady garden. The snake bite in your panties that keeps you sweating all night. He. Is. Sex.

And he’s no good. For anyone.

After a nasty breakup with his best friend and their band’s drummer, Rax is flying solo for the first time in years. Who needs the drama of commitment when the line for your humping booth spans three city blocks? No, groupies and liquor are far finer company than relationships, and they don’t leave bruises after they’ve had their way with you. At least not lasting ones.

Rax’s new adventures as an alcoholic, guitar-slashing one-man show are going along swimmingly until the only woman who’s ever brought him to his knees shimmies down a pole back into his life. Eve doesn’t abide excessive drinking, she has sex with strangers for a living, and she can’t remember Rax’s name to save her life.

She’s perfect in every way.

Now, if he could just get sober long enough to forget his past and convince Eve he’s worthy of her future …

OMG. This book was amazing. I have loved this series but Kendall Grey took this book to the next level. This book has all the same out there writing which I loved, but it also deals with some very serious and confronting issues.

Thankfully Rax didn't disappoint me either I knew he would come through for me. I won't go into detail as I don't want to spoil the story for you.

Again do not read this book if you don't like swearing or very descriptive sex scenes.

But if your into raw and dirty characters this series is a must read.

I'm going to miss all these guys

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe I'm saying these words...I freaking love RAX!!! 4 June 2015
By Tiffany Williams - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
"Does this woman have any idea what she's doing to me? This is torture on so many levels."

OH MY GAHHHHH!! Rax, oh Rax!

I'll tell you, I wanted to hurt Rax in Strings and Beats. He was sexy as hell, yes, but he was also moody and spiraling downward on a slippery slope that is caused by alcohol. But times they are a-changing! I freaking LOVE Rax!!

By the end of the first chapter-or should I say Side A- I had changed my mind about him. Yes, he was cocky and still sexy, but he was also broken. Lord knows I'm a sucker for a broken man. Not only was he depressed from losing his best friend, but he also was struck in the face with a past he never saw coming.

"My urge to protect her from herself is about to trump my desire to help her."

Rax and Eve are not the coventional couple. Not in the least. He lives the live of sex, booze, and rock-n-roll. She lives the life of sex, money, and imprisonment.

The more Eve tries to push Rax away, the more he fights to get to her. I loved seeing this change in him! Even though he was still heartbroken after Toombs, he couldn't shake Eve from his brain.

"This woman scares the crap out of me. I must have her."

"Something tells me he's as lost as I am. Like recognizes like. Even when what we see is horrifying. He's my mirror. And that scares the hell out of me."

There were some scenes in this book that were hard to take, I'll admit. Mainly because I wanted to jump into my kindle and scream at Eve for doing what she was doing, and to yell at Rax to stop drinking his life away!
As Kendall wrote: "Two lost souls on a road to nowhere."

One of the best things about this book was the dual POVs. I really liked how Kendall switched it from "Side A" to "Side B". That was truly unique! Plus, every chapter was a song title! My music loving heart loved it all! Each song represented that certain chapter perfectly.

Unlike the first two books, this one had more suspense and drama. It took a somewhat more serious tone. Just when you thought the story was going one way something would throw you for a loop. The sex was hot and the words were hotter! This book had it all!

"Her halo might be a little crooked, and she might be sporting tiny horns, but she really is an angel."

On Eve's way down to Hell, Rax changes her life more than she ever though possible. What Rax doesn't even realize is that Eve saves him from his own personal Hell, as well.

The change in Rax is unreal! I honestly couldn't believe I was pulling for him!! He was possesive, but also charming to a fault. I don't know how Eve stayed away from him.

"You're supposed to shut your eyes when you kiss a girl."
"I never close my eyes when I'm kissing you. I don't want to miss a single second."

Goodness me! He got to me!! They brought out the best and worst in each other, but it was the perfect combo. I didn't want their story to end! But I love how Kendall brought the story together in the final chapters.

This whole series will stay with me! Not just becase of the hottest sex scenes EVA, but because it was a well written tale of The Rock and the people that live it!

"Everyone deserves happiness, Rax. even the lowest of the low. Even us."

5.0 out of 5 stars Very powerful story! 18 December 2015
By Laura Crawford - Published on

The third installment in the Hard Rock Harlots series was Rax and Eve's story. We met Eve in Strings, but she was known as Lola, which was her stage name. Nocturnes was the place Eve worked as a stripper in New Orleans when Rax meets up with her again. Only she is doing much more than dancing on a pole for money. Rax becomes a participant one night, and he soon finds he is both attracted and disgusted by the paths they are both on. His addiction to alcohol soon becomes unmanageable and things come to a climax that left me both shocked and sad, but soon hopeful. This was a much different book than the other two, darker, more disturbing, and yet, it filled me with hope for Rax and Eve and the rest of the band that they were all able to be the family they needed for themselves and each other. The description of Rax's journey rang so true, and I applaud Kendall Grey for not sugar coating the horrible pain of addiction not just for the addict but for the family and friends who are a part of it, whether they are enabling the addict or just bearing witness to it. And sometimes you have to give up the thing you love most to heal and become better, no matter how much it feels like it will kill you. Thank you for writing such a powerful story.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a love hate relationship 25 January 2015

Nocturnes may be my favorite in the HRH series thus far. Kendall began this series as sexy and fun. But, slowly she's been intensifying every book. which brings us to where we are now. Nocturnes is heavy, intense, and (what Kendall is known for) completely and utterly raunchy. No one can do rocking and raunchy better than the, mother tricking Kendall Grey. If you haven't read Strings or Beats yet you need yo do thatNo before beginning Nocturnes. There is a lot of background information in the previous books that you'll need for a full understanding of this series.

Rax was a character I was full on one hundred percent, determined to hate. I couldn't bring myself to like him....even remotely. I loved to hate him. Which I did until I finished Nocturnes. what kind of author would KG be if she couldn't get you to love one of her most disliked characters? KG really brings us until the world of Rax, into his head and (at times) you'll wish she hadn't. He's floundering and looking for a foothold somewhere. luckily, he finds one.

I was initially worried about beginning Rax's story just for the fact that I did dislike him so much that I didn't want my opinion to overshadow KG's amazing writing style. She lulled that hate and turned it into a bloody hug *gag*. Being able to turn me into a Rax lover is a miracle on its own. it shows just how great if an author KG is, she turned it completely upside down. she shows us that love can and will conquer all. while this story is so heavy, with the self loathing and content; KG has interwoven a love that would conquer time itself.

Nocturnes held me captive from the first word to the last. its definitely not as easy read but it is so worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kendall Grey NAILS IT! 4 December 2014
By BamBamGram - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The first thing you should know here is that Kendall EFFING Grey is a goddess in the world of romance, rock star love stories, and creative use of the English language to describe erotic acts, sexual longing, and various body parts. The writing here is not just good, it's incredible. The sex is rampant and decidedly non-romance fare (yet it's actually romantic!) and the morals were shredded like toilet paper and flung out the windows of the tour bus as it flew down the freeway at 90 mph. There's no going back for that s*** now! Ladies and gentlemen, this series is not like anything you've ever read and ATTENTION MUST BE PAID! If you have ever, in your life, uttered the words "Well, I never!" in offense and disgust, then you may need to pass these by. Although I gotta tell you, there's something here for everyone. Sexually and emotionally.

This book has love, sex, self-loathing, sex, friendship and arguments and sex, kinky sex, a lot of drinking, sex, some drugs and sex, and some fighting and makeup sex, but mostly, there's music and sex. There are also some thoughts in here, some truths, but I'll leave you to sort those out for yourself. Grey is not just here to write about horny rock stars, although she does that with great aplomb and nearly divine inspiration, but still, there's some thought going on behind all the Sex, Drugs, and Rock 'n Roll.

Rax's story is timely, important, relate-able, and realistic. Grey did a fabulous job on his spiral and eventual redemption and salvation. If ever two lost souls were meant for each other, if ever they were there specifically to save one another, it's Rax and Lola/Eve. This is a fan-freaking-tastic story and it has so much heart that you can't help but feel Rax and Eve's pain, happiness, love, and even relief.

If you can can put your grandmother's sexual repression in that junk drawer you've got in the kitchen, you're really going to love these books. You might need a fire extinguisher handy when you read the sex scenes, though; there's one in the first book that nearly made my Kindle combust. Having a spare pair of panties nearby might be a good idea.

Oh, and if filthy mouths, strippers, prostitutes, three-ways, bisexuality, and hard drinking, hard screwing, and hard-living bad boys and girls living it up like rock stars do are not your thing? Don't bother.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rax and Eve! Yes!!! 31 December 2013

I can't decide if I liked Beats or Nocturnes better - I think it has to be Nocturnes. Rax will win you over in this book - I didn't think it possible, but he did. He's just a talented guitarist with some serious flaws. Eve is even more messed up, but somehow they are drawn to one another. Kendall does it again with an awesome plot that keeps you turning the pages. I also loved how she sneaks the characters from her "Breathe" series in here. My heart broke for Rax and Eve several times - both characters take an emotional/physical beating, but when they are together, it is just so right!

Thanks again KG - you've broadened my sex education dramatically!
