Product Description

Why would someone choose the BDSM lifestyle of consensual bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sado-masochism as a means to heal from a traumatic and abusive past?

NOBODY'S PERFECT is the continuing story of Savannah Gentry (now Savi Baker) and Damian Orlando from MASTERS AT ARMS & NOBODY’S ANGEL (Rescue Me Saga #1) and NOBODY'S HERO (#2).

Savannah/Savi escaped eleven years of abuse at the hands of her father and finally made a safe life for herself and her daughter. But when her father once again threatens her peace of mind—and her daughter’s safety—Savi runs to Damian Orlando for protection. Eight years earlier as Savannah, she shared one perfect day with Damian that changed both their young lives and resulted in a secret she no longer can hide. But being with Damian reawakens repressed memories and feelings she wants to keep buried. After witnessing a scene with Damian on Savi's first night at his private club, however, she begins to wonder if he could help her regain control of her life and reclaim her sexuality and identity.

Damian, a wounded warrior, has had his own dragons to fight in life, but has never forgotten Savannah. He will lay down his life to protect her and her daughter, but doesn’t believe he can offer more than that. She deserves a whole man, something he can never be after a firefight in Iraq. Damian has turned to SM to regain control of his life and emotions and fulfills the role of Service Top to “bottoms” at the club. However, he could never deliver those services to Savi, who needs someone gentle and loving, not the man he has become.

Will two wounded survivors find love and healing in each other’s arms?

ABOUT THE RESCUE ME SAGA: The books in the ongoing Rescue Me Saga are not stand-alone stories and should be read in order. Characters will recur in later books to deal with further issues in their lives as the saga continues and each book builds upon all previous ones. Sometimes main characters even need another book to help resolve major issues affecting their relationships.

BONUS MATERIAL in this version: Kallypso Masters has added the PLAYLIST of music that inspired her as she wrote about the first three couples mentioned in this combined volume, as well as a GLOSSARY OF TERMS and a CAST OF CHARACTERS in these books in the saga.

CONTENT WARNING: Intended for mature adult readers not offended by profanity and graphic (but never gratuitous!) sex scenes. Due to the emotional way in which the author presents the subject matter (past and present), the books might cause triggers while reading. Please read the Author's Notes at the beginning.

These books are long in comparison to LOTS of books on kindle in this genre. I like Masters writing and her characters and story line are really well developed. A very readable series.

One perfect night some years ago changed Damiàn's and Savahnna's lives forever. Destiny tore them apart and leads them together when both of them find themselves at the bottom of their lives. However, their first encounter all these years ago left its "imprint" on them and now they have to deal with the hand life has dealt them to come to full circle.

A wonderful love story involving two troubled souls who have lost all their self respect. To regain their lives and maybe even a common future they have to face their fears as well as their insecurities and help each other to overcome their ordeals. With Adam's help Damiàn has already managed to make the first steps towards overcoming his PTSD, contrary to Savahnna, who had some counseling referring to other issues but hasn't yet dealt with the sex related abuse. In any case, the couple chose BDMS practices to deal with her issues, which I considered to be a rather strang choice. However, since Savahnna is a therapist herself and I'm only an amateur, I rest my case.

Generally speaking the romance between Damiàn and Savanna was well done. However, for someone who isn't into the BDSM lifestyle many details of the plot line simply don't make sense, hence keep disrupting the reading pleasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE!!!! 16 October 2012

First and foremost I want to say that being a survivor myself this book was something that I had to prepare for, as well as take my time with. Kallypso Masters wasn't afraid to delve into the dark and nit and gritty. Surviving acts like what Savannah did isn't something you can wrap into a neat bow and say "All better! Tada!" first the incest for the lead heroine in this book started when she was 8...most of her childhood is repressed and she truly had no idea what would trigger her and what would not trigger her. Damian Orlando a survivor of war had his own dragons to deal with as well, the building of trust was important. I know most were looking for a HOT read right of the book, but that was just unrealistic for these characters. I've said in reviews before that Kallypso writes realist BDSM romance novels.

As the story progressed and Damian started to pursue Savannah(Savi) and things triggered her it was like a journey through my own mind. Many of the triggers I long thought desensitized popped up and I had to put the book down. Please don't take that as a bad thing, I was warned and expected this. If you've not survived the horrors of incest or rape by a strange then you probably don't have much to worry about in the way of triggers unless you are a war survivor. I found myself clinging to the happy playful moments, Damian's birthday and Christmas were things that made me cry happy tears and laugh. When the "play" started and Savannah started to let her playful side out was a real treat it was like. Yes, Kally gets it, survivors go with the flow, you never know until you try and you can only promise to try. Damian only ever asked Honesty and to try of Savannah and when she set her mind to do something she went for it.

Many times I read things that Savannah did or thought and was like "HEY its me!" I know for me, for many years I couldn't talk about sex or my organs at all...naming them really helped defuse the situation for me. Made it something that I could talk about and not be uncomfortable. There were many times in the book where Savannah and Damian surprised me. Their love for each other and devotion and neither of them realizing it for what it was..was a fun thing watch. Healing and living..LOVE isn't something that you can wrap up nice in a bow. I know most people wanted that but Nobody's Perfect. Was PERFECT the way it is. It was written exactly as it happens for most (not all because nobody's pain or healing is always the same...that'd just be too easy) The care Kally took with this book showed a deep respect for the soldiers, survivors and for those that love the CORKY (because we're not broken) people who survived in one form or another. My favorite moments in this book were Christmas, Damian's birthday, the first time Savannah sees what Damian does for a bottom, the next day, the DATE and well Damian crying over the photo album and the end was well hell I guess that means I loved the whole book. Truly please don't let all the rambling about having to prepare for this book deter you from a great read. I only went into how I had to prepare to describe how well written the book was.

Kally thank you for writing my favorite couple so beautifully I hope one day to have my own rescuer. Deepest respect for you and congratulations for a book VERY WELL WRITTEN. It was truly incredible.

I've thought about this book for awhile and I still can't properly put my thoughts together. I've worked in mental health with vets and others with PTSD, as well as sexual assault, trauma and abuse victims. I knew this was going to be a dark and intense read. It more than delivered. Kallypso seamlessly threaded BDSM and abuse through the story and did them both justice; not an easy task, when so many people already misunderstand the lifestyle and misconstrue it as abuse. Especially when a sadist is involved. But line by line, step by step, Kallypso broke it all down. Savi was much stronger than she ever knew, in part thanks to Damian. It was cathartic. Part was his training as a Dom, his unyielding patience and self-control. He was the one person who never failed her or abused her. He walked her through the lifestyle, gave her choices for the first time in her life, strictly adhered to check ins and kept her in the moment. He rebuilt her trust and empowered her, despite the fact they had both been lost and tormented for too many years. I assure you this painful journey is also a beautiful one where they explore boundaries safely, discover and combat triggers, and even find a way to turn them around and instill positive reinforcement. Keep some tissues handy for this emotional story. It is my favorite in the series.
1.0 out of 5 stars I thought this book would never end 27 May 2016

I read Masters at Arms over 4 years ago, and while I didn't like it all that much, Savannah and Damian's story was by far the most interesting in the book. Unfortunately, their story was not what I expected. I never would have thought a BDSM book could be so...tedious. I kept thinking something "more" would happen, but very little did.

This book is about twice as long as it needs to be. Damian and Savannah have the same inner thoughts over and over and OVER! Throughout the entire book. I'm damaged...he/she deserves one could want me. I mean, I got it the first 50 times, now it's just annoying. Savannah has been through some horrific abuse, but because of that her sexual naivety didn't make sense ("There are other positions?"). Come on. Savannah and Damian didn't even have any chemistry together. It was more like a therapist/client relationship than a romantic one.

Damian automatically knew exactly what Savannah needed (sure, after spending a couple of days with her) which would be more believable if he had some self confidence. His constant "woe is me" thoughts don't gel with a Dom.

Adam (who Damian calls dad) makes a few comments to Savannah that I found borderline inappropriate. But I was also squicked out at the thought of Damian and Savannah watching "dad" and Karla in a scene and vice versa. Yuck.

But the thing that really pissed me off about this book was this: "Women Marines, like all women, were to be protected even if they HAD trained alongside the other Marines. Not only was it the right thing to do, but from Dad's, Damian's, Marc's and every other Marine's perspective, there was a good reason for it, too. With a woman present in a firefight, a man's focus would shift at a critical moment from the mission to trying to protect the woman in harm's way." Is it still 1950???? How VERY SEXIST and really disappointing coming from a woman author. Perhaps these men shouldn't be Marines if they are unable to focus in combat. I probably should have stopped reading at that point.
4.0 out of 5 stars Savannah & Damian 17 May 2016

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - This book is very long & drawn out & not very erotic. You'd think with the kink club Damian owns we'd have some hot action but this storyline did not fit with that scenario. As a matter of fact I only rated this book with 4 stars because I learned a great deal about kink & how it works with certain personalities, especially with those who need pain. Savi (aka Savannah) runs to Colorado with her little girl in tow to see if Damian, her hot romantic fling from back in the day, can protect her from her father. Savannah's story is disgusting & it takes a lot of dedication on Damian's part to break through Savannah's mental blocks regarding sexuality & sensuality & pain & different stigmas. Women who are sexually abused often turn to cutting & it was all explained in great detail why that is & the control they feel at physically releasing pain & increasing endorphins. Damian is wise to how kink & some of the pleasurable pain inflicted at the hands of an experienced Dom can help a woman numb & broken open up her emotions & break down her walls. Even at the end Savannah had come such a long way but still not all the way to the ideal sexual relationship she might need which, again, seemed realistic knowing Savannah's awful past. Damian has some physical & emotional issues as well & Savannah proves her thankfulness at Damian helping her by turning around & showing him great compassion & love. The methods Damian used were very interesting & seemed a bit harsh until they talked through his reasoning & of course they worked to get Savannah to open up her body & mind to finally deal with her past. Not my kind of book but I have to say it was very educational!!
