Product Description

Have you ever fallen in love with the wrong person—or the person who feels he or she is wrong for you?

NOBODY'S HERO is the continuing romantic journey of Adam and Karla, which began in MASTERS AT ARMS & NOBODY'S ANGEL.

Retired Marine Master Sergeant Adam Montague has battled through four combat zones, but now finds himself retreating from Karla Paxton, who has declared war on his heart. With a significant age difference, he feels he should be her guardian and protector, not her lover. But Karla's knack for turning up in his bed at inopportune times is killing his resolve to do the right thing. Karla isn't the young girl he rescued nine years earlier—something his body reminds him of every chance it gets.

Their age difference is only part of the problem. Fifty-year-old Adam has been a collector of lost and vulnerable souls most of his life, but a secret he has run from for more than three decades has kept him emotionally unable to admit love for anyone. Will Karla be able to break through the defenses around his heart and help him put the ghosts from his past to rest? In her all-out war to get Adam to surrender his heart, will the strong-willed Goth singer offer herself as his submissive and, if so, at what cost to herself?

ABOUT THE RESCUE ME SAGA: The books in the ongoing Rescue Me Saga are not stand-alone stories and should be read in order. Characters will recur in later books to deal with further issues in their lives as the saga continues and each book builds upon all previous ones. Sometimes main characters even need another book to help resolve major issues affecting their relationships.

BONUS MATERIAL in this version: Kallypso Masters has added the PLAYLIST of music that inspired her as she wrote about the first three couples mentioned in this combined volume, as well as a GLOSSARY OF TERMS and a CAST OF CHARACTERS in these books in the saga.

CONTENT WARNING: Intended for mature adult readers not offended by profanity and graphic (but never gratuitous!) sex scenes. Due to the emotional way in which the author presents the subject matter (past and present), the books might cause triggers while reading. Please read the Author's Notes at the beginnings of each book before reading further.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the first. It just seemed overly wordy to me. Otherwise a good series so far.

2.0 out of 5 stars DNF. I really tried. 24 July 2016

This book may have a trigger warning to some people. It goes into the M/s side of BDSM.
This book is wrote in third person POV.
I wouldn't say this is able to so much be read as a stand-alone. I'd you haven't read the intro book, you're left wondering the back ground on these people.
I made to the half way point, and just can't do it anymore. This book is just so drawn out.
You have Karla that is so in love with Adam that she's willing to do anything for him. Including become his BDSM slave. I would love to say how she's losing her back bone, and becomes his door mat. But the truth is it takes more strength to be a slave and commit to that form of life style, than to stand there are scream for him to feck off.
Now Adam, he made this arrangement with her so she would tell him to feck off and safe word. He feels as if she deserve a better than him and trying to get her to run for the hills at any cost.
I've read and Google'd enough to know, the things he's doing, makes him a very, very dangerous Master. In one of their first scenes, she felt she pushed herself to her tolerance of pain. He didn't think that was good enough and went a step further. Wouldn't of been so bad if he had been doing scenes with her OR working her body over in other ways to know when it was enough.
There is nothing where she's stretching out before hand, then he's trying her up like a pretzel. I mean the detail was so over done to everything (that I started to skim scenes), something like yoga or stretching could of made these more plausible.
The scenes were just pages and pages and pages long. We didn't need to know throughout the same scene he didn't dye that hemp. That he was getting more of the help he didn't dye pretty colors. That he needed more of the help he didn't dye.
Too. Much.
Here's what drove me to the end to give up. As I said, this is extremely wordy, so the author made Karla sound wishy-washy. One minute she wants Adam to know she's adult to she using adult terminology and what she wants him to do her body. The next, she's back to child like behavior of "girly bits". And "mons" from, Adam.
In all actuality I thought this book was more about her boobs than anything else. 88 times we got to hear of "nips," 135 times hear of "nipples," and last but not least 100 times on "breasts".

I feel the if it wasn't repeating and drawn out, here's an example copied from the book:
Adam’s mouth gently licked her nipple before he sucked her hard nipple into his mouth.
This book could of been better paced to help the reader stick with the story.

I'm not sure if it's better or not towards the end. Maybe one day I'll go back and finish. Especially if it's edited.
This book isn't for me. Maybe it'll be for you. If so enjoy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too slow 21 March 2016

Karla and Adam met nine years ago when she was a sixteen year old running to New York. He save her from a pimp and kept in contact with her. Now he’s a retired Marine who co owns a kink club. Karla has loved him since she was sixteen. Adam still loves his first wife who died from cancer. Karla shows up at Adams club looking for a singing act. She talks him into a Master/slave relationship but Adam is hoping she’ll safeword out. When that doesn’t work, he uses the safeword. She thinks he is abandoning her but he decides to have a Dom/sub relationship.
Can he put his dead wife in the past and maybe love Karla?
This is the slowest paced book I have ever read. Sex. Dominance. Secrets. Bondage. I am 45% in and don’t know if I can finish it. I want to but it just seems to go on and on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Three, Master Sargeant 28 April 2013
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com

This book tells Adam's story. Nine years earlier, two weeks after the death of his wife, Adam met a 16 year old runaway in a bus terminal and saved her from a pimp intent on recruiting her. After escorting her back home to her parents, they began to correspond, keeping him sane through several deployments. Then she shows up at his club to audition for a position as singer. With a twenty five year age difference, he has always thought of Karla as a kid and himself as her guardian, but seeing her now as the woman she has become stirs feelings he hasn't felt in a long time and doesn't want to feel now. He is a Dom and she is an innocent. She is too young. But Karla has had her sights set on him since she was sixteen and she is declaring war on his heart.
Kelly is a master at writing stories that speak to the heart. This book is no exception. I love this series and am looking forward to book four.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nobody's Hero 12 July 2013
By Lovely - Published on Amazon.com

Where do I start? I was excited about reading this story. I liked the idea of Adam and Karla. But, I was disappointed in Ms. Kallypso's development of Karla. I don't want to spoil the story, so I won't get into any specifics. But, I had a don't-really-love/really hate connection to Karla. It seemed the author wanted her to be strong and challenge Adam. But, her thought process was the exact opposite. She seemed immature and juvenile and did not ascend past those traits. Just when I thought she would, I was disappointed by a thought or comment she had.

I would describe Adam as a tragic hero who I liked.

What I did not like was the fact that this book could have started in the middle and the story would have still been fine. The first half was tedious and said the same thing over and over again. I felt like the first half of the book could have been reduced to a couple of well-written chapters.

I hope I am not disappointed in Damian and Savannah's story.
5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down fav alpha male romance [SPOILERS] 30 March 2017

I'm giving it 5 stars because it was very well written, even if some of it wasn't for me.

LOVED: I love, LOVE May-December romances, and this was absolutely perfect. I rarely see a gap like this, and when I do the heroine is usually 18 or some other improbable age. This was perfect, and the dynamic was very believable. Also (SPOILER), I adored the ending. The pregnancy was so perfect, and I love how possessive he became over the unborn baby. This ticked all of my boxes for a perfect romance.

DIDNT LOVE: there was a LOT of bdsm. I'm very into alpha males/naturally dominant men, but not really into the super specific toys and things. If you are, however, this book definitely has it in spades. If you aren't into it, that's fine too, because there's enough going on that it isn't necessarily central to the story. You won't be put off by it.
