As Heather Brodie kisses her lover goodnight, her disabled husband lies dead, his throat cut from ear to ear. Who wanted Gavin Brodie dead? Many people, including Gavin Brodie himself. Crushed by an incurable illness, he pleaded to be allowed to die. When Alice Rice is brought in to investigate, another terminally-ill man is found murdered. Is it just a coincidence? Or is there a serial killer with a mission to get rid of the sick and infirm? And Alice has more worries when she suspects her partner, Ian Melville, is lying to her. What secret is he hiding?

I love the way these stories describe life in all its feats "warts and all". You can understand what these characters go through because at some time or other you have felt it too.

Boring

I really tried to read this book but it just didn't happen for me I tried .the main charters were just lifeless and you had to be according to this book very rich and intellectual to live in Edinburgh s New town if you came from the the poorer areas you were just a thief or a junkie idiot .let me just say my hardworking manual builder husband and myself came from one of the most difficult schemes in Edinburgh and still managed to buy a beautiful house in the new town of Edinburgh and I got so annoyed by the authors portrayal of the people of Edinburgh I shall never buy one of her tedious week books again.rant over

This book has a very female perspective, which reflects the primary characters.

As usual the author has huge talent for evocation, sometimes I feel the need to wear warmer clothes while reading her books

No Sorrow To Die
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 June 2010Verified Purchase
I have read all the other books by Gillian Galbraith and was looking forward to this one however No Sorrow To Die is certainly not the best in the Alice Rice series. The pace is good but it has a rather gloomy atmosphere and several of the characters are depressing.
I wish that Alice would take stock and get herself sorted out. Perhaps she should start looking for a less stressful job or a new partner?
