Review:

Firstly, we would love to say a huge thank you to M.C. Frank for sending us this stunning book to review!❤️

As soon as we saw this book, we were just drawn to the series as the covers are just completely and utterly gorgeous! We loved how the author managed to portray such deep meaning throughout such a small book!

The story follows the adventure of both Felix and Astra within the year 2524. A journey of self-discovery of finding ones identity and own capabilities. Throughout this unique dystopian world, children are bred within laboratories. We were completely fascinated by the idea and concept of both food and sleep not being needed for a human being to survive even in the most roughest conditions! Instead, advanced pills are taken in their place to eliminate human suffering. However, this new advancement (although good) destroys all human traits like thinking for yourself, having your own opinion and basically doing what you want to do. Can you imagine being under strict orders like a metallic toy soldier?

Felix is a soldier designed with the purpose to follow all Government orders and needs. The story commences with a rather mysterious abrupt message from the ‘Clockmaster’ requiring Felix to visit the North Pole. The ‘Clockmaster’ is known for constructing and designing special clocks for New Year celebrations. However, instead of meeting with the master, Felix is situated in a rather unplanned situation. You are probably all asking what did he find and that’s probably what Felix was asking himself.

Astra, is a girl who was tracked and punished for the crimes of her father’s doing. Together, both Felix and Astra uncover the mystery surrounding the ‘Clockmaster’ and the brutal truth about the world they have been brought up to know.

The author’s writing style throughout this novel was just stunning, engaging and adventurous. We loved all her use of imagery surrounding the characters and the plot location. We would have loved for the book to have been longer however, that’s only because we found ourselves absolutely loving this book and just wanting more!

We are definitely looking forward to continuing on with this incredible series! We just loved how both the main characters Felix and Astra complemented each other so well.

We would definitely recommend ‘No Ordinary Star’. It is such a beautifully written novel which shares so many deeper meanings that are hidden under the surface. This novel was really unique and had a storyline that we haven’t seen before which was really enjoyable! M.C. Frank is such a lovely author! Do yourselves a favour and pick up this gorgeous beauty!
