But when he is injured and loses his partner in the line of duty, he returns to his vacation home in Amesport, Maine, to recover. With a mouth as dangerous as the streets he protects, Dante knows no one can ever heal or tame him.

Sarah Baxter, a brilliant young doctor still struggling with her stifled upbringing, has recently moved from Chicago to sleepy Amesport to escape her past, hoping to find peace. When Sarah is assigned to Dante’s case, there’s an instant heat between them. They couldn’t possibly be more different, yet their intense passion is impossible to ignore. As burning desires awaken within Sarah, her haunted past returns, threatening her once again. Can Dante overcome his grief and unravel the secrets Sarah is hiding in time to protect and rescue her?

Wow, This book has it all and then some. Both Dante and Sarah have issues from their pasts to overcome, and they don't seem like the perfect couple but the chemistry and fireworks are there.
No Ordinary Billionaire by J.S. Scott is the second book in her Sinclair series, it can be read as a stand alone. In this novel, we are introduced to Dante Sinclair, a Billionaire who lives his life in LA as a homicide detective and Dr. Sarah Baxter, a child prodigy that never had a chance to do the things that “normal kids” do because of her overbearing mother. The setting is a little town called Amesport, Maine. Dante is there to heal after being seriously injured in an altercation and to hopefully deal with his case of survivors guilt - Dante survived the shootout, but his partner and best friend, Patrick, did not. Sarah is there running from her own secrets, but finds that Amesport is just what she needed to have an outpatient only practice where she could peacefully live. Sarah is assigned to take care of Dante to make sure he heals physically, but can she also help him deal with his grief? Upon first meeting Sarah, Dante does his best to intimidate her and make her go away so he can be alone to wallow in his grief. Sarah doesn’t back down and keeps coming back to check on him. They have chemistry from the very beginning, but is it ethical for Sarah to be involved with Dante if he is her patient? Does Sarah rescue Dante from himself? When Sarah’s past comes to find her, is Dante able to get past his own issues to help her? You will have to read it to find out.
I thought this was the best billionaire book written by Ms. Scott. Once I started reading, I had trouble putting it down. I felt that we truly got to know Dante and Sarah without sex being the overriding theme in the book.

3.5 to 4 for this book in this genre. I think these Sinclair plots are better served in a full-length novel, rather than the preceding novella - Billionaire Christmas. There's much more room for character and plot development. However, the storyline follows the same sort of scenario...alpha male seeks intelligent, slightly submissive, loyal, passionate woman. Oh, and she has to have a serious dilemma for him to solve. (I can hear fists pounding a muscled chest as I write.) I suspect all of these books will run with the same theme.

This journey involves another Sinclair brother, handsome, hard-boiled cop, Dante and brilliant, beautiful, but supressed, Dr Sarah. Together, they find love, lust and a meaningful relationship, despite their differences. The story is nicely told with a lot of tantalising moments. It's escapism, HEA, romantic fiction, so don't expect realism and total plausibility. I suspect the author is well aware of her writing method and is not aiming for the Pulitzer Prize or anything. So, just sit back and enjoy a book that's not complicated or heavy and is pleasantly predictable.

I bought this book mostly because it was cheap and figured that although the romance would probably be cheesy, hopefully the thriller story-line would make up for it - boy was I wrong! Firstly, the romance is as cheesy, tacky and sexist as you can get. It has every cliche gender stereotype you can possibly imagine and is beyond pathetic. Secondly, the thriller story-line probably makes up 10% of the book (the rest is cheesy romance/soft porn) and it's not even a good story-line at that.

My Private Notes:
The Bicycle ride was most exciting. I reminded me of when I was 17

This first installments in the Sinclair Trilogy exceeded my expectations... The Author work has always been a steady 5 star for me and even here it continues to do so! Dante Sinclair a leading homicide detective with so much compassion and generosity from the beginning that I was urged further into the story was unable to stop for a break...
Yes the physical chemistry in a J.S Scott novel is always smoking hott but you can all recognized a profound plot all her stories. As with Dante it involves the emotional physical pain a Police Officer endures in the line of duty and the resulting outcome after having survive such and incident! For reason of "survival guilt"
Along comes love at a time when Dante least likely expects it ! Dr. Sarah Baxter is a Brilliant neighboring medical doctor, that is also awkward and sky of men but is absolutely not afraid to let men view her high intelligence as She challenges Dante's mind and heart. As he grown fond of Sarah and the affection is mutual Sarah realizes that she can trust Dante with past hurts to help her conquer hear fears. I absolutely love this Author Work and I'm already craving the next !!!

I had the absolute pleasure of reviewing this arc by Author J.S.Scott.
Let me introduce you to, Dante Sinclair. He's a police officer working in homicide, so officially a homicide detective and good at what he does. Unfortunately his long term partner Patrick dies in the line of duty, nothing Dante did could save him and that is tearing him apart. He's in hospital can't even make his best friends funeral. Things are looking bleak for Dante right now. All his family rush to see him when they find out what's happened, it's agreed he will go with Grady his younger brother back to Maine until he is well. This is where we meet Doctor Sarah Baxter, she will be looking after Dante, not that he wants any help, he wants to feel the pain, believing he deserves it for not saving his partner who had a family. He had nothing, no one to care for. Sarah was just what he needed. When Sarah first met Dante, the first encounter didn't go down to well but boy was she attracted to him. She couldn't believe how hot he looked but even though he was a fine specimen of a man, she wouldn't go there, not just because he was a patient of hers, but because she didn't like sex. She only did it once and that was enough, she thought she wasn't good at it. Sarah was a genius, working her whole life to be better, brighter. Her mother constantly pushing her, no real childhood to speak of. I think they both needed each other. Once Dante stop being so stubborn and actually starting caring about Sarah when he caused her harm, he realised that he wanted to protect her and she definitely needed protecting. Her past had literally come to haunt her. This story was so detailed, I really felt like I knew Dante and Sarah. I was gasping at one point at the heart in my mouth moments. The romance is beautiful to read.
