I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I chose to read this story read based solely on the title which I think is pretty great. The cover however leaves a lot to be desired.

This is a college romance story that I really enjoyed. Andie has been treated like crap from all the men in her life and has no tolerance for A-holes. But first impressions aren't always correct and everyone has a bad day. Andie's past means she doesn't trust men and this is reoccurring issues that causes problems throughout the story.

The relationship between Andie and Lucas develops over time and I loved that they are normal everyday people. When they played Mario Kart on their first date I was completely sold on both of them.

I had a great time reading about not only Andie and Lucas but their family and friends as well. I look forward to the next book in the series The No Bad Boy Rule.

3.0 out of 5 stars Familiar story line with nothing new to offer 10 June 2015

This book was just ok. It had all the predictable elements of the collegiate, angsty romance...girl meets guy; girl has some trauma/history that makes her want to stay away from guy;guy proves too difficult to resist; inevitable misunderstandings due to miscommunication or total lack of communication; jealous wanna be girlfriend of guy convinces h that she was right to stay away from guy in the first place; meant to be climactic incident and then all is wrapped up in a very clean HEA.

The characters are ok. It is easy to see why they are the way they are. Our H doesn't date or sleep around at all...he's a stand up guy, who devotes a lot of time to his sister and her son (she got pregnant at 16 and now has a 4 year old son). Her situation is what made him stop sleeping around. He also had a break up with is first girlfriend/love which adds to his hesitancy to jump into anything romantic. Our h is just starting out a new University to get away from her father (this is not a spoiler, you learn this very early on, and he is pretty much the foundation upon which her no a$$hole rule was built). She also has one bad experience with an ex boyfriend. All in all, its clear why they are a bit reluctant, but the story line doesn't really grab you.

There are funny elements, with the initial meeting really being the funniest part in the book. The whole brother enrolling in her college and her friend just deciding to transfer to her school bothered me for some reason. Perhaps it just seemed to easy, but then again, wherever this i set, maybe it is that easy. Even the eventual scene with her father (again, not a spoiler, you know its coming) is just anticlimactic. It was just an ok read. I skimmed a bit throughout. The "steamy" scenes are PG at best. I probably won't read anything else in the series.
4.0 out of 5 stars Andie has had it pretty rough up until now not being able to rely ... 12 June 2015

4 stars for book one in this new adult series . Andie Burke is nineteen years old and getting ready to start her sophomore year in college when she has to transfer to Parkland. Andie has had it pretty rough up until now not being able to rely on anyone but herself. The men especially in Andie's life have shattered her confidence and trust leaving her declaring she will forever live by the "No @$$hole Rule" therefore she has no time to devote to guys. As she is moving all of her belongings by herself into the dorm apartments Andie is instantly irritated by some jerk who couldn't even hold the door open for her further cementing her beliefs that all men are insufferable. Once Andie gets to her apartment she quickly realizes the guy that slammed the door on her is not only her new neighbor but he is absolutely gorgeous.
Lucas Jensen is twenty two years old and a sophomore in college only because he delayed going to school and instead helped his sister and parents for that matter with his nephew Noah. Lucas freely admits he was your typical manwhore until his little sister got pregnant at sixteen and dropped like a bad habit before the baby was even born. Lucas saw how devastated his sister Ava was and vowed then he would never treat women like that again. Lucas has not even dated anyone on campus since the girls there haven't interested him enough but when he meets his new neighbor his whole philosophy changes. Lucas is immediately drawn to this feisty girl that seems to hate him on site but he is determined to get past that tough girl act.
Lucas and Andie have numerous ups and downs with the missed connections and angst that I expect in a NA romance. I really enjoyed this first book and will be on the look out for book two.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I haven’t been in a big New Adult mood in a while, but when I saw the title of this book I had to give it a go – even if that required sacrificing a few hours of sleep to do so. And I’m glad I did. The No A**hole Rule has the requisite amount of angst one tends to find in a New Adult romance, but the reason behind Andie’s issues aren’t the typical insecurities young women her age tend to have. In fact, the reason why Andie is so cut-off from the world is pretty horrific in my opinion, both because of what happened to her and who was responsible for it. Add to that Lucas, an admitted reformed player, and the book proved to be an enjoyable read for me.

While we get the drama, angst, and romance of a New Adult romance, Ms. Erin sets out to show that first impressions can be overcome and doing so can be well worth the effort. To be fair to Andie, Lucas did make an awful first impression. Yes, we find out afterwards that he wasn’t being the a**hole she thought he was as he was actually dealing with a family issue at the time, but her first impression of him seemed spot-on and their subsequent interactions didn’t do anything to disprove it. When Andie finally gets a chance to see that she was wrong about Lucas and gives friendship a chance – they will be neighbors for at least the next three years – they find out that have a lot in common. Gotta love a girl who can kick EVERY guys’ butt in video games. Because of her history, it takes Andie a long time to see the potential for more with Lucas. Fortunately, Andie’s brother Dax is there to encourage her and give Lucas advice without spilling her secrets. Thankfully Lucas actually listens to Dax and gets his own sister’s advice and takes it slow with Andie. This makes for an enjoyable slow-building of their romance, and when they finally do take that next step, well it’s both sweet and sexy.

Where the author took The No A**hole Rule that I elevated above the typical New Adult read for me was the conflict between Andie and her father. Honestly as I got farther and farther into the book, I began to think the author wasn’t going to play that card after all. And them BAM! she went there and she did it spectacularly. While I hated that Andie went through what she did, when she’s confronted by her father it gives total credence to every flinch, jerk, shut down, and tensed muscle that Andie experienced in the book. As bad as it was to watch, it added to the realism of Andie’s character – and gave her the kick in the rear she needed to admit her feelings for Lucas. I really liked Andie and Lucas’s friends and family and am looking forward to Lucas’s sister and Andie’s brother story play out. The No A**hole Rule was a great start for the Rule series and I look forward to reading The No Bad Boy Rule.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lucas is a "rule" breaker ;-) 11 June 2015

Andi Burke, 19, has a bad history with men. Because of it she’s quick to judgment. So when her new neighbor, hottie Lucas Jensen, barrels past her, leaving her in the dust with heavy luggage, he doesn’t make the best first impression. Or make Andi doubt her “ rules."

But it turns out Lucas is really quite the prince. (Forget book boyfriend, every girl needs to find a boy like him in life!) A reformed teenage manwhore, Lucas, 22, hasn’t had sex in four years. Yes 4! (Refreshing— you don’t find that too often in contemporary romance). It seems that Lucas has had his own family issues that have made him reevaluate relationships, and until Andi he hasn’t been interested in them.

Andi lacks experience with trustworthy boys. Lucas lacks experience with committed girlfriends. So how does that all turn out?...Well, Lucas is a total prince. (I said that already didn’t I?) Can’t really say it enough. Aside from one little overreaction (that honesty felt out of character for Lucas) he’s the doll of the book. Andi on the other hand…well largely she’s likeable, taking into account all that she’s been through. She is quick to jump to misunderstandings though, but thankfully she has a great support system of characters who make up the supporting roles of the story.

Speaking of the supporting characters, they definitely add to the story and seem to set the stage for future books. I’m definitely interested in Dax’s story, especially with the person he’s hinted to be with. Family, friends, and making a serious relationship work are all themes of the story.

Advanced copy for blog tour had some grammatical issues although that may have just been an uncorrected proof. Despite having to re-read some sentences, it was still an enjoyable new adult read. Told via Andi and Lucas’s alternating first person POV, if you enjoy coming of age romances that focuses on the characters and the couple as they make their journey and grow, then you’ll want to check this one out.
