Nintendo Switch Lite is designed specifically for handheld play, so you can jump into your favourite games wherever you happen to be. The Nintendo Switch Lite system is only compatible with Nintendo Switch software that can be played in Handheld mode. See back of software packaging. The system cannot be played in TV mode, nor does it include HD Rumble, IR Motion Camera functionality or detachable controllers. For games that support Tabletop mode, players can wirelessly connect Joy-Con controllers (sold separately) to Nintendo Switch Lite. If using separate Joy-Con controllers, users will need to have a device to recharge them, such as the Joy-Con Charging Grip. To find play mode compatibility information for specific games, please refer to the product packaging or Nintendo eShop. Just look for the “Handheld mode”.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I bought a Switch Lite for myself and I’m loving it. I was worried that the screen would be a tad too small but it’s the perfect size for a handheld, also the image is slightly sharper than the base Switch. I wouldn’t recommend a Lite for local multiplayer tabletop play however, the screen feels smaller when you’re sitting further away and you need to buy joy cons separately too. The internals are the same as the base Switch though so there’s no power being sacrificed for portability and it feels great in my hands, it looks pretty stylish too.
Only downside is battery life, and playing for prolonged amounts of time. My hands get a little cramped after a while. I'd recommend getting a handheld clip that makes it feel more like a controller.
My girls loved this! Was convenient and a good variety of games available for the different ages. Wouldn’t recommend for under 5 just because of the size and their small hands to coordinate
