The controls use the same button layout as xbox and playstation. This is a problem when playing on joycons because the buttons and joysticks are directly above each other. If you have played this on other consoles you will be used to moving your thumbs a longer distance. It's almost fixable because you can remap most of the controls, but you cant remap the menu buttons for Confirm and Back, which use B for confirm and A for Back, which is the opposite of every other switch game. Not only are you battling your muscle memory of Dark Souls on other platforms, but you're battling your muscle memory of other switch games. I could play this game with a pro controller, but then what was the point of buying it on switch if I can't play it handheld?
If you do end up remapping the in game buttons, you may end up having a different cancel button depending on which menu you are in. This is just a seruously bad decision which makes this game unplayable for me.
Remember to grab black firebombs as your starting gift to cheese the Asylum Demon... :)
