Pros.. Smaller than I thought. Light weight. Simple controls and easy to use. Good picture (gen 1) in bright moonlight or a small amount of ambient light. And it takes a common battery size...CR123A.
Cons... The lens cap won't stay on. Focus ring is very very stiff but the diopter moves almost too easily. The IR emitter is horrible and weak. It doesn't show a spot light or lighted area like others...but instead sort of a choppy ring light made up of brighter a darker rings with a dull center. The lack of a decent IR emitter makes this unit almost unusable beyond 20 meters.
One downside, since you are looking at a bright screen an inch away from your eye, whatever eye you look into the device with loses all the nightvision in that eye. Once you take the device off your eye, it has to spend 10 minutes readjusting to the darkness.
It does feel durable, and the controls are very easy to figure out.
