Shadow Force Serie Teil 4 - ich fand's super :)
Reviewed in Germany on 10 May 2012Verified Purchase
also...natürlich sollte man wie immer bei Serien die ersten 3 Teile lesen:
Lie with me
Promises in the dark
In the air tonight
und ich würde auch empfehlen die Trilogie zu lesen die davor kam:
Hard to hold
Too hot to hold
Hold on tight.

Night Moves

"... When he finally pulled back, there was a predator's gleam in his eye. He looked so damned...satisfied. So very in charge, and she wanted to slap him and kiss him at the same time.
**********
Kell and Reid are best friends, both with tragic, angsty pasts (I love angst!). They grew up in foster care, both ending up there for very different reasons, but both of them were in full on survival mode as teens. They became best friends fast and have been that to each other for years.
After a mission that went horribly wrong, a teammate was killed, Kell's friends were hurt badly, including Reid, and Kell blames himself. We learned the details of the mission in the previous book, but it's recalled here from Kell's perspective and he's still dealing with his own emotions about it and not doing so well. Reid's worried that he's losing his best friend and doesn't know what to do to help him anymore. And then they run into Teddie, or rather she literally runs into them, trying to escape the men she's convinced killed her family over a year ago.
Kell and Teddie both have pasts that have made them put up walls around everyone and everything in their present life. Teddie has no choice, having been in Witness Protection for the past year. She's had to give up everything she loved after losing her family. She took off on her own, not telling her handler, to try and get enough evidence against the men she suspects killed her father, step-mother and half-sisters. The meeting she sets up goes horribly wrong, but she escapes and runs into Kell and Reid, who are in the middle of their own mission. The trio circle around each other at first, not knowing if anyone can be trusted, but Teddie doesn't have much choice but to side with Kell and Reid and Kell finds himself not being able to let Teddie go off on her own with her life in danger.
**********
"You're so beautiful," she whispered, looked at him with her eyes full of the compliment. No one had ever said that to him before - and holy Christ, she meant it.
He should tell her there was nothing beautiful about him, but he needed it to be true, didn't want her to see him as a danger...didn't want her to see the ugliness he'd been born with on the inside.
**********
There are 2 separate suspense story lines that end up intersecting at the end. We have Teddie dealing with the men from her past and Dylan (who we meet in Lie With Me) dealing with a psycho from his past who's causing havoc for Dylan and the rest of his friends. I was actually surprised at the amount of Dylan, Riley and even Vivi we got in this story. Add to that a solid supporting storyline for Reid and Grier (a US Marshall trying to track down Teddie) it didn't leave a lot of extra page time for the leading couple. It just felt like there was a little something missing between them. I really did like the scenes when they finally started opening up to each other about their pasts and letting their guard down. And Kell's just a hard guy; he's had a tough life, he puts a lot of blame on himself for things that are really out of his control, and in that sense he stayed true to his character throughout. Even when he lets Teddie in, he still has that edge, but Teddie gives him something else to hold on to, where before he only had Reid.
While I loved seeing Kell open up to Teddie, I wish he'd have done the same with Reid. Their best friend relationship was one of my favorite parts of the story, and it didn't feel like they had any kind of real conversation together. Maybe chalk it up to them being guys, and they really wouldn't talk to each other about that kind of stuff, but having both lived through hard times, something other than a fist fight, which they had and really went at each other, would have been nice to see between them.
I enjoyed Night Moves and reading about Kell and Teddie finding love together after years of struggling to just make it through each day. For me, the supporting characters, specifically Reid and Grier, overshadowed the leads a bit, but when you love characters in a book, any character, it's not a bad thing at all! I always look forward to Tyler's romantic suspense books and can't wait to see what she gives us next.
