About the Author
Robert Pielke, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, now lives in Claremont, California. He earned a B.A. in History at the University of Maryland, an M. Div. in Systematic Theology at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, and a Ph. D. in Social Ethics from the Claremont Graduate School. He swims daily, skis occasionally, cooks as an avocation, watches innumerable movies, collects rock and roll concert films, is an avid devotee of Maryland crabs and maintains a rarely visited blog filled with his social and political ravings. His favorite film is the original Hairspray; his favorite song is "A Day in the Life;" his favorite pizza is from the original Ledo Restaurant in College Park, MD; and he is a firm believer in the efficacy of "sex, drugs and rock and roll." Somehow his family and friends put up with him. --This text refers to the paperback edition.

Can't Wait for the Third Book to be Published!Reviewed in the United States on 20 December 2012
As he did in the first book of this trilogy, the author has woven historical details into the fabric of this alternate history sci-fi narrative in such a believable way that one can imagine the likes of President Lincoln and General Lee actually having the conversations and taking the actions described. In the classic style of the old Saturday morning cliff-hangers Pielke keeps you coming back for more. Having personally known Bob for over 50 years, his ability to keep producing works of higher and higher quality and intensity never ceases to amaze me. I have told him that he needs to get book three out quickly, since at his ripe old age if he were to leave this world before it was completed I would have to haunt him for eternity!

A very good sequelReviewed in the United States on 21 September 2014
A very good sequel but doesn't flow as fast or as quick as a read as the first in this trilogy. Unfortunately the author passed away earlier in the year which is a true loss to fans of his works. I can't wait for the third and final book to be published which was completed this year.

MehReviewed in the United States on 29 April 2014
I enjoyed the first book a lot so I was looking forward to reading this one. I was completely bored. I kept expecting it to pick but never did. I really struggled to finish it which is why I never did. I read 3/4 of it and quit. I never quit books but this.....meh.
