The shoes are kinda’ cute and are reasonably comfortable. However, the textile uppers do not offer a whole lot of support.
The fit is good. I ordered my normal size, and it fits as I expected. My toes are not squished and have adequate wiggle-room. The heel of the shoe fits my narrow heel, which is a definite plus. Many shoes slip up and down slightly.
The quilted textile upper is soft, and the seams covered. Well, mostly.
The end of the tongue is left unfinished, and had a monofilament thread sticking out. That thread really irritated my foot, and I had to squeeze my hand and scissors into my shoe without cutting something that was not supposed to be cut. Now that was a bit difficult, but I did manage to get rid of the offending thread. BTW, the tongue is loose…..not one of those non-separate ones that are now so popular.
The top of the heel area is padded and slightly spongy. Nice!
There is just the right amount of arch support for a low-medium arch. High arches might find the support lacking. The removable insoles are thin, but nice and cushy.
The sole has a tread, and is a quiet walking shoe. I find the sole adequate for normal walking around on carpets, hard floors, sidewalks, malls and even clodless dirt. I’m not sure that it would be adequate for rocky terrain. I would not use this shoe for running; however,......to each his own!
I was so surprised on my first day wearing because it didn't hurt my feet. I was so stoked to have found shoes that was that comfortable, I went and bought another one (phantom color). Although the title says 'New Balance women's Veniz v1 fresh foam Running Shoe' - I wouldn't suggest this shoes for working out especially if you're doing a lot of running or jumping because the soles are not made for that. Probably needs an insert before you do. Tried to run in these and my knees didn't thank me for it. It is perfectly fine for walking around or standing for long periods of time though, which is what I'm looking for so I give it 5 stars. It is lightweight, sturdy and comfortable.
