Dr. Nate Roman

Once was enough. I'll never give my heart to another again. One night with a woman is enough for me now. As a psychologist, I deal with emotions all day long. Life gets messy when emotions are involved, and I like my life uncomplicated.

Dr. Lynsey Henderson intrigues me. Her smile makes my heart skip a beat. I want her in my bed, but she isn't proving to be an easy conquest.

Dr. Lynsey Henderson

I finally have everything I dreamed about since I was a kid. Well, almost. I have the best job as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, and I live in a beautiful historic home in a quaint small town. I'm missing someone special to share my life with. Someone special to love. The last time I tried was a colossal disaster.

My path has crossed Dr. Nate Roman's multiple times at work. He is beyond gorgeous and just the kind of guy I swore I'd stay away from....he has a different girl every night, and I'm not going to be one of the many.

He is so damn sweet when he tries to convince me to go out with him, and I don't know how much longer I'll be able to resist.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love Nate and Lynsey! 23 March 2016

Format: Kindle Edition
I received this free book in exchange for an honest review.
4 Stars

Nate Roman- hot, sexy, psychologist that is struggling with the losses he has suffered and instead of dealing with his feelings, he’s working his way through the women of Thurston. Lynsey Henderson is the beautiful new pediatric orthopedic surgeon, who is attracted to Nate, but refuses to be one of many. After finally realizing he needs to get his crap together, Nate realizes Lynsey is a woman he would very much like to get to know and if starting out as friends is the way to do it, then he’s game.

Ashley has written a beautiful story that touches on some subjects, that sadly, people are still narrow minded about these days. Even though I Never Dreamed is a standalone, I recommend you read Breeze first, so you get all the backstory. I’m looking forward to what’s next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fantastic Story 23 March 2016

I love the Southern Rock Lyrics Series.
Book Two stands alone, but I would recommend Book One for the back story with Nate.
It is a quick, and satisfying read. Lynsey's 'NO BS' attitude is quite refreshing. And it is nice to get the softer side of Nate, as well as his full story.
Highly recommend beach reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed Nate and Lynsey's story 23 March 2016

This book was a fast read for me too. I love Lynsey's take no bulls*** personality and seeing Nate's softer side. I also enjoyed how this book was a pretty drama free book. Sometimes, that's what we need as a reader. A sweet book. I would recommend this book/series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Shoes To Fill...Did She??? 23 April 2016
By Amazon Customer - Published on
I loved "Breeze"...absolutely everything about the book. I knew it was the beginning of a series so Ms. Hampton had BIG shoes to fill as for the second book. Nate...okay...she just made those shoes even bigger as I would need to keep an open mind with this guy. Ms. Hampton filled those BIG shoes and I actually feel her writing is getting better and better. I LOVED this book. I was happy, mad, and literally sobbing in the middle of the book. The big ugly cry kind of sobbing where you need a boatload of tissues. I loved Nate's story and our gal...well she just plain rocked. I also LOVED that Ms. Hampton made a very interesting choice with an essential detail to part of this book and I applaud her for taking this risk. Long overdue and I loved how she slipped it into the mix. I know that music plays a strong role in this series BUT the was sooo darn deep with emotion, twists, and turns that the music seemed almost unnecessary (but still loved). Our shrinking cast of characters, OMG, were fully realized and are each just waiting for Ms. Hampton to reveal what mystery they each have to add to the series. There was not one single thing I would have added to this story and not one thing I would have changed. This book was sheer perfection and Ms. Hampton should be beyond proud of herself for the magical work she has given to her readers. She has established herself as a writing force and clearly deserves a place at the "big girl" table of authors. She has serious writing chops and I for one can't wait for the next book in the series. I also want to acknowledge something very unique about Ms. Hampton. She is one of a growing minority of authors who still respects those of us who love reading in paperback form. This is not easy for authors and takes a lot of time and effort. Many thanks to her for this. For me this alone earns her "angel" points in my book. Amazing work! denise bailey

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading is Dreaming 26 March 2016
By Ana Castañeda - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Ms Ashley Hampton brings us the second story in her series Southern Rock Lyrcis in "I Never Dreamed." In her first book, "Breeze," we are introduced to a group of friends fighting their own battles to become victors in love. In "Breeze" we met Hannah and her Finley; now in "I Never Dreamed" we meet Nate, Hannah's friend who is still in love with her until a certain Dr. Lindsey comes into the picture and fulfills Nate's thoughts and dreams.

"Nate, you know it is possible for you to quit thinking with your dick for a while and think with your actual brain." Indeed, Nate's coping mechanisms after he has lost the love of his life and his unborn daughter, are not well seen among his family, friends (Stacy and Will), and the new woman in his life. Nate is still consumed by dreams no longer achievable, and he believes a different girl each time is the best solution to his nightmares. Until Lindsey proves him wrong.

Lindsey cam to this small town where Nate and his friends live in search of solace, recovery, and the possibility of a mended heart after what happened with her fiancé. Despite being one of the best orthopedists in the hospital, her days are still haunted by dreams of a past that was never meant to be. Until Nate proves her wrong. "I no longer had to hold on to the past. I was free. I was alive."

Told in dual points of view, "I Never Dreamed" is not a story full of angst or drama, it is not a story to throw away Kindles, or to wish you could cut in two a paperback; it is, however, a light love story that will help you realize how a man and a woman are destined to be together and can overcome the simplicity of certain barriers inlife. "No guy has ever cried out of happiness because I agreed to go on a date with him."

As in all love stories, there are some external factors that may put our characters to the test of sadness, or jealousy; although, nothing would compare it to the bitter taste of fighting some prejudices established by the old ways of certain neighbors.

Ms. Hampton once again touches a senstivie topic in the plot, that of interracial love. Nate is a gorgeous black-skinned psychologist, and Lindsey, is the white-skinned girl who "had the manin my house and in my bed, and we didn't do anything but sleep." Nevertheless, sometimes dreams are easily realized when opportunities happen on "one Saturday [...] to flip my entire world upside down."

If you enjoy fast-paced stories, full of real-life characters whose demons have affected us all one way or another, and, above all, you are a dreamer whose "[...] heart was healing from experiencing another's heart and soul," this is the right book for you. Read as a standalone, if you can, don't miss the beginning with "Breeze," or the upcoming novella and novel to continue this road of friendship and love among a special circle of friends united by music and lyrics. "This was my perfection."
