When I binge, I do feel like a pig in the sense of eating everything in sight like a pig... I actually admire cute, intelligent pigs more than I admire that part of myself, however I still refer to it as a pig due to the manner in which I consume food during a binge (the types of food eaten are also junk food, so the analogy of pig slop fits well).
If you believe loving that binge monster/pig inside of you will make it go away, then you will be challenged by this book. I practice self love in other ways, however I have tried those avenues for my bingeing and it hasn't helped. I am willing to give this a go!
The actual writing style does not flow easily, hence the 4 rating, however the underlying content is brilliant and definitely a 5!
There are also a heap of free resources on Glenn's website.
What this book does do is give a new perspective and way to conquer impulsivity that can be applied to many areas of life. It provides a mental toolkit for overcoming problems and I highly recommend it (four stars due to repetitiveness, which I guess is to reinforce the ideas).
I can't report a staggering weight loss yet - it's only been a couple of weeks - but I feel like this book might just save my life.
The use of negative self talk to treat an eating disorder did not resonate at all with me and could be triggering for some. If you are into that maybe give it a go, to all others, give it a wide berth.

*Update* Nearly six weeks have passed and I still haven't had a single crisp, not even a crumb. Even more staggering is the fact that I simply don't want to eat them anymore. We have packs in the house for my daughter's lunchbox and I don't even give them a second glance. Consequently I'm now eating healthier all round and I'm starting to lose weight too.
If you don’t like how I am talking and it’s
Making you mad -
Put the book down.
So I did, right in the trash. Just a reminder - love
Yourself radically. Be kind to yourself.
In all seriousness the delivery of the prose undermines any credibility the book may have,
B) lots of content is kept on the website and when you sign up you receive endless spam.
After reading this book, which focuses on how we think about food, and gives you strategies to deal with your impulses (it sounds slightly off the wall - our internal Pig - but makes so much sense when you really think about it) I feel more confident than I’ve ever felt that I can finally deal with my weight problem. Glen Livingston doesn’t pull any punches, he tells it like it is. We overeat because we choose to overeat. But he gives you tools to deal with this, and to stop yourself from making those bad choices. It totally makes sense! For someone who likes structure, and rules to follow (which you make yourself - nobody is telling you what to do here), this made so much sense to me.
I would recommend this book to everyone who has ever felt utterly demotivated when it comes to their weight, and who thinks they just don’t have the willpower. Great book.
