Thanks Lucas, I hate it - also what is wrong with you!? I clearly remember the day many many moons ago when the network operations team came to me and asked if I could search for a replacement snmp monitoring tool because the one they used was so ancient that everyone who used to work with it had already left the company and promptly died. I didn't think much of it since I was still young and just knew that if something has 'simple' in its name and is from the seventies then I should not be the one touching it. They insisted on this because of the sheer awesomeness of this protocol beyond human comprehension that even the god argus panoptes would approve of its usage. A few days later everyone could hear them scream 'dear lord, what have we done, turn it off! Turn it off! The links are saturated' and never heard of it (or them) again. Unfortunately this encounter led to my curiosity getting the better of me when I saw this book being announced. And now here I am, suddenly everywhere I look I seem to find different implementations of snmp like rats in the walls. This book helped to give me some insight into parts of my work that had only been confusing gibberish before. It is very well written as usual and covers a broad spectrum in concise paragraphs on a topic that is rarely spoken of.
