I read all three books in the space of a week, and this one's definitely my favourite -- the first one is new ground (everything is new and shiny), the second one digs deeper in the characters, but this one is the big payoff, the big finale. I don't want to give any spoilers, but this is the big clash between the two corporations that we've all been waiting for, and the three main characters from the previous novels finally step onto a greater stage.
Artisius, Draz and Alfred finally take their fates in their own hands in this book (with some pretty stunning results). There's some really great moments in this book -- at one point Artisius has to give some orders that leads to the deaths of many innocent women and children, and you can just *feel* his guilt at having to give these orders...but you also have to acknowledge the inevitability and necessity of these orders.
There are some fun undercurrents through this book -- Shakespeare makes a reappearance, Draz and Alfred start an awkward romance, both CEOs prove to be blowhards (reminded me of some dickish business guys I knew) -- one is a drunk and the other likes bossing his underlings around.
Anyway, I loved this book with its richness, its story, and its heavy emotional moments! Highly recommended!
