All the buttons and dials work, though they're noisier to operate than the normal camera ones.
PRO TIP: Avoid using the strap ring at the top corner of the grip - its not designed for load bearing especially heavier lenses. Previous one I bought off ebay split here. The tripod mount screw is reliable though. Safest to use the strap rings built into the camera itself.

Having owned OEM Nikon Grips in the $350+ range and currently having the Nikon D500 and its OEM Nikon brand grip as well, I wanted a well made n on-OEM grip for my MFT's system as well for occasional use.
Built quality and solidity of the controls is really nice. Does not feel flimsy in its construction nor in the buttons and dials it has.
Have to say, this grip in fact is more solidly built then I ever expected. Perhaps the skim is in internal components or electronics, but, honestly, I've had Nikon products including high priced strobe cords go bad or break on me and with light use.
I'm giving the benefit of the doubt here and thinking perhaps it is just that Newer is not pricing this anywhere near as high because there's no Nikon logo on it!? Time will tell on the reliability, but, peace of mind that there is no $350 invested in this grip either!
But, the feel and grip of my G85 are really nice in the hand. for me, this grip feels like part of the camera body and I like the extra flexibility to be able to change my grip position due to the extra grip area between camera and grip. given the G85 has a smaller profile anyway, this grip adds the extra grip surface I feel I need without making the G85 feel too bulky in hand.
I eat batteries when using 4K video and having the ability to double up on batteries for longer shoots was one of the driving factors to get this grip.
For still photography, my OEM G85 batteries go a long while and the grip at that point is optional for me, but, for videos if I'm going to shoot as long as possible, this grip is a requirement!
As other reviewer stated, if this grip did fail w/i 2-3 years, at the price point, you still save a bundle of the stock Pany G85 grip whihc could fail in time as well!
100% satisfied and delighted in yet another Newer product I now own!
The grip is very grippy, maybe a little more rubbery than the camera's grip. The finish is almost a perfect match to the camera's body, as well. The only thing that gives away that this is a "knock-off" are the buttons and dials, as they are significantly louder and clickier than the camera's buttons. They still function entirely as normal, though.
An excellent value for the $40 I paid!
