Many writers aspire to create a fantasy world as rich and immersive as this one and can plumb it until about the 4th solid book...after that it's same same but different (see the Shannara Chronicles)
Characters almost as detailed as Patrick Rothfuss but nowhere near as self indulgent
With the Spellmonger and his adventures you get a fantasic story made up of many smaller stories, unique and consistent characters (who grow and mature), comedy, creative and complex magic system, a detailed world history, and no pesky changes to basic concepts of time, measurement or the amount of moons to try and make it feel different....
The first ten (not including novellas....what the hell did Gatina manage...another series in it's own right) were wonderful and the next ten will be too.
Just don't sell out the George, or die on us like Tolkien and Douglas Adams did...I want to see the series on Netflix AFTER the books are finished...and don't screw it up like they did to Eragon...

I really enjoyed this book. The early scene setting made way for a rollicking tale of conflicts and adventure. As the politics become...... well .......more political and the complications of the Spellmonger compound, a final twist tantilises. May I suggest an "eloquent quill" and liberal use of warmagic to speed the writing of the next instalment, indeed the 2nd decalogy. I await in excited exile.

Once again Mr Mancour has favoured us with a laugh out loud, well paced story that captivates from the opening pages. Of particular note are the character and world building components which enrich this novel. Really, Necromancer is a great read that left me hungering for more.

An amazingly intricate world. A huge cast of colourful characters (at times I wished we could have fewer, in more depth). Political intrigue, settlement management and raid-level battles against incredible foes. It’s all there, but Minalan is who holds this all together. Maybe becoming a bit smug and arrogant at times, he is still relatable, funny and engaging as he forges his path. Can’t wait for the next ten in this mammoth series.

It was a well written storyline, great world building with plenty of action.
The only gripe I have is the timeline fluctuations (books 7,8 and 9 in particular). I would also like some more and better maps.
Otherwise well done and keep up the good work (quickly).

Terry has done it again! Not only has he kept the usual action, suspense and humour throughout the series, he completely turns the history of Callidore onto a new path (just when I thought I had it figured out) and I will have to try and wait patiently for the next book to see where else this story goes!

Very well done. I thought it was a bit of a slow start however that was corrected quickly and i was one again swept away with Terry's creative flair.
Thanks for your dedication to such magnificence.

Really wonderful read, gripping storyline well worth the read

Wonderful book and story line. I would suggest for any new readers to this series you start with Spellmonger and forward. The plot thickens and some surprising twists and turns. There is plenty of amusement and action. Loads of surprises, really good take on the follies of some of the baddies in the book Sheral gets plenty of attention but from unexpected foes. Often times makes the reader nicely from one situation to another. This book opens up the characters to explore their own journeys. All in an excellent read. Its a long book but deserving because of the natural way the author has explored some really interesting and unexpected plots. Looking forward to the next in the series. I understand that the wait might be a while. Hopefully by then the Audible would have caught up. Also hopefully some novella's exploring the adventures of some of the characters will be written too. In the meantime, an excellent read and well worth spending the time reading. I found it hard to put the book down. I had to at least eat sleep, and read, text to speech is a wonderful thing.

There is something special about this series
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 October 2017Verified Purchase
I can’t quite put my finger on it - excellent characters, strong world, good storyline very long books... but there is something more that pulls everything together to make the series truly special. I think on reflection it’s the ability of the author to capture most of what you want to happen plus a load of stuff you didn’t expect and still has more to say! The author has suggested it’s a 30 book series - shame it’s so short really...

Great story

This story is getting better, a fantasy with a twist of Sci fi coming into it. I do hope this series carries on, too many stops series stops with no ending. I so enjoy this story, has some subtle humour thrown in as well.
